Excelsior University - Fixed Rate Tuition - bjcheung77 - 12-18-2025

I was reviewing Excelsior website and came across this, not for any other degree but Business:  Fixed rate tuition (BS in Business program only. Effective beginning with registration for Spring 2026 Trimester.) $3,200 per trimester for eligible students. This all-inclusive fixed-rate pricing includes tuition, course materials, the Academic Services Fee, and Technology Fee.

Someone needs to email them to see if you can complete the 15 credit residency requirements entirely using this fixed rate tuition.  IIRC, I don't think they allow the capstone to be completed in the same trimester.  Thus, you'll be stuck with an extra trimester to complete the business capstone course.  You may want to do the associates capstone for the 15 residency credits, and get an extra Associates on route to the Bachelors.

Undergraduate: 24 credits max a trimester. Limited to registering 12 credits in 8-week courses per term. Here's their max credit hour transfer info, interesting indeed... Link: https://www.excelsior.edu/policy/maximum-credit-hour-policy-undergraduate-and-graduate/

If you can do the cornerstone, info lit, and 6 more credits in the first 8 weeks. You can try finishing the Business capstone and 3 extra classes for another 12 credits. Thus, a max of 24 credits total, and you get the Associates and Bachelors at the same time.

At $3200 for 24 credits, it's a pretty good deal if you actually manage an Associates and Bachelors... Does anyone know if all classes come in 8 week/16 week format? I wonder if it can be hacked this way, anyone want to get in contact with Excelsior?

Hmm... we may be seeing a possible revival here in the Big 3. Excelsior with their new pricing model and my recent discovery of finding new UL credits for COSC; I'm holding out for them. Anyway, I may dip my toe in the water. With Excelsior, if I recall, allows you to transfer in a total of 113 credits. If its split up the way you described it, I think you may have resuscitated Excelsior since it would be a different semester technically!

Also, for the Associates and B.S. Business degree, if you already have a degree, can you still enroll in the program and max out your transfer credits? Or if you already have a conferred bachelors, are you then denied access into the program?

I think it was reduced to 105 credits if there are any third-party transfers from Sophia, etc., if I understand correctly:

However, this new pricing could make it a more viable option again.

Even still, its not too bad. I think our Big 3 is coming back!

Nearly everything is 8 weeks especially in Business. Catalog still says 16s are possible but my advisor tells me there's not much demand.

I'm too close to graduating to benefit but I agree this is great for people who can use it.

That's awesome and exactly what I was thinking, this would benefit people and will be the equivalent of TESU's flat rate tuition fee!

Looks like Excelsior is back on the menu! Pretty much, if you're looking at UMPI for the BABA and you feel as though you may not be able to do all 10 courses in 2 terms, Excelsior's will be your best option

Except UMPI is a CBE program whereas Excelsior is not. UMPI is also a state university and Excelsior is not. This matters to some people.

Also with Excelsior they have time limits on transferring credits in their business program. They can be difficult with transfer credit in my experience. UMPI was a breeze with transfer credit and did not have age limitations on the credits in my experience.
