New DEAC Doctorate - DeanLewis - 12-18-2025 City Vision University recently announced that DEAC has approved a new doctoral offering, namely a Doctor of Organization Leadership and Innovation (DOLI). The degree comprises 40 credit hours, and can be completed in 2 years, for just about $13k ($333.33 per credit hour). The DOLI degree has 5 concentration options (actually six, when including the "diversified" personal concentration):
Perhaps most interesting, is that the program includes 9 options for an applied/action research capstone project to complete the program (detailed in the attached image). CVU is a unique institution, that while organized around a Christian ethos, has programming widely applicable to work within the non-profit sector. All of their offerings are very affordable, and they aim to intentionally leverage technology to disrupt the higher education space to make the whole enterprise more accessible. The price tag is right around 13,000 with potential scholarships available, making it one of the cheapest NA doctorates. This is cheaper than the VUL DHA program, which now costs $21,500. It will take an additional year to complete the degree at City Vision University. Still, it focuses on organizational leadership and innovation, which I personally think is more valuable for anyone looking for a generic doctorate to check a box. I forgot to mention they accept transfer credits for three courses (25 percent of the 40 required credits). This could lower the cost by about 3k, making it a solid 10k NA doctorate if you can get them to accept nine transfer credits. Maybe master's credits apply towards transfer. This will also save time for at least a semester's worth of work. Courses are 8 weeks long each, and there are five different start dates per year. There are ten core courses (nine 3-credit, one 1-credit, all 700- or 800-level), and this core includes the capstone project. There are five concentration courses (each 3 credits). The “Concentrations” tab on the program page includes a table “Common Paths to Doctoral Concentrations,” showing that various master’s degrees “map to” doctoral concentrations. This might mean some or all concentration credit can be taken at the master’s tuition rate at City Vision, and/or that some master’s level credit can be transferred from outside, subject to the maximum 25% transfer credit toward this doctorate. RE: New DEAC Doctorate - NotJoeBiden - 12-18-2025 I wish the degree title was something more standard. DOLI is not a widely known post-nominal. I agree, I think its the primary downside to this program, it's an odd post-nominal. Even DPS (Doctor of Professional Studies) in Organizational Leadership and Innovation would have been preferable, I think. RE: New DEAC Doctorate - newdegree - 12-18-2025 Lately, a lot of doctoral programs have been coming up with new abbreviations for degrees. RE: New DEAC Doctorate - bjcheung77 - 12-18-2025 City Vision University is a pretty good DEAC institution in regards to cost, they've partnered with Saylor.org, and other organizations for undergrad. A Masters can be had for ~$5K if you're resourceful in transferring credits and they have several concentrations or degrees at the Masters level to select from, even though they're NA, some of these concentrations are niche specific... RE: New DEAC Doctorate - Sagan - 12-28-2025 My wife calls one of my degrees a "Dosey Sosey." The post-nominal stying is irrelevant compared to all the real issues involved in earning a doctorate and its impact on your career. RE: New DEAC Doctorate - Docu - 01-14-2026 Would this be equivalent or comparable to Acacia’s DBA or EDD? Would one choose this over Acacia or other doctoral programs NA/TRACS? Would one choose this over Acacia or other doctoral programs NA/TRACS? It's different course- and curriculum-wise. If you're asking about reputation, that's in the eye of the beholder. |
