RE: University of Louisiana Lafayette Applied Computing and Information Sciences, Ph.D. - SteveFoerster - 02-12-2026 Total tuition of $31,680. I guess it could be worse. RE: University of Louisiana Lafayette Applied Computing and Information Sciences, Ph.D. - ifomonay - 02-14-2026 This looks great. I'm going to consider it. It seems like if you have a Masters they will transfer units, so potentially could be cheaper. According to their website, an unspecified number of credit hours of transfer graduate credit may be applied toward fulfillment of requirements toward the doctoral degree, but more than 50 percent of the coursework credit hours applied toward a doctoral degree must be earned at UL Lafayette. source If 30/66 credits are transferred, the tuition should be $17,280. Also, they are unlikely to accept ENEB/Ui1 credits for those wondering: Quote:The student shall have earned the credits in residence as a graduate student in an accredited United States institution that regularly grants the master’s degree and/or the doctoral degree. Transfer credits from non-U.S. institutions may be granted upon special petition to the Graduate Appeals Committee. In such cases, the evidence presented in favor of transfer shall be extremely persuasive. RE: University of Louisiana Lafayette Applied Computing and Information Sciences, Ph.D. - mcjon77 - 02-21-2026 Of the 66 require credits: The dissertation is 24 credits The required courses are 18 credits The electives are 24 credits. I wouldn't be surprised if they counted a master's degree in a related field towards the 24 credit electives, dropping you down to 42 credits. I'm definitely going to contact them and ask. This program looks very interesting and I never would have found it without this forum. RE: University of Louisiana Lafayette Applied Computing and Information Sciences, Ph.D. - ifomonay - 02-28-2026 My application is complete. Now waiting for a decision. I have an applicable master's. I'll keep y'all posted on what they say about the how much they will transfer. From what they said, it will take years to complete with a dissertation, even if one transfers max credits from a master’s or doctoral program. The director said 5 years minimum usually. I wish there was a faster path. Full-time enrollment would normally take 4 years to complete a PhD, so half-time enrollment should take double, 8 years. They are basically cutting it down from 8 to 5 saving 3. RE: University of Louisiana Lafayette Applied Computing and Information Sciences, Ph.D. - ifomonay - 04-07-2026 I was admitted. Now I have to see what they will transfer. |
