Highschool Homeschool - Associates and more - bjcheung77 - 10-05-2026 Just rambling on with how many high schoolers and/or home schoolers are getting their associates degree(s) while they are wrapping up their secondary education. I am setting my kids up to do the same thing using CLEP/Modern States and the cheapies or freebies, I remember there being several posts either on this board or the sister board... I want my kids to be like this kid from a few years ago (article from 3 years ago), I'm going to get them started with CLEP/AP and dual enrollment to get college credits cheap, hopefully get an associates degree before they graduate high school. https://fchornetmedia.com/24604/news/meet-clovis-hung-fcs-12-year-old-a-s-senator-and-youngest-graduate/ There are many smart people who fail elementary grades, like this person who at 15 finished with 4-5 associate degrees: https://abc7.com/post/jack-rico-college-degrees-youngest-student-university-of-nevada-las-vegas/11316972/ That was as story from 5 years ago, many other kids are like that, the Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, UK/US, education systems are very similar. They fail kids as they don't follow protocol or system wide learning requirements. But these are smart kids who actually excel instead of fall behind. Now (recently found this while viewing Tiktok)... Here's a gal who graduated with a whopping 10 associates degrees and showcased that feat on Tiktok, all through dual enrollment: https://www.tiktok.com/@loisyww I mean, they got 110+ college credits for either free or really cheap, plus the college exams for credit. I can get people from 0-90 in one month and for less than $100 if not free. I'm going to get a year membership for my kids to learning platforms that also generate alternative college credits, all through their high school years. What I tell people to do is work on 3 things, a trifecta of certs, degree, experience. While at that, work on a second trifecta using cheap, easy, fast alternative credit options. Coursera, EdX, and other cheap MOOC options provide professional certificates that also generate alternative credits through ACE/NCCRS. 3000+ US institutions already take these for college credits. I know I have a ton of associates, but 5 of them in three years starting at the age of 9 is otherworldly. Both of my children are teens, they're no longer kids that go to elementary school with a few classes all taught by just one teacher. These high schoolers are on the semester system and they only have 4 classes each semester, even with learning an extra language, plus sports, they're asking me for more things to do, and ways to accelerate/compact their education. They even want a job, I'm like, volunteer first to get experience, they want to be like their cousin working at a restaurant and using the benefits for tuition assistance/reimbursement, I'm telling them to do the cheapies and freebies first, mainly CLEP/MS and Coursera and other alternative credits, and we can add dual enrollment when they want to.
