It was a day of decisions. Here’s what I decided.

To lay aside AJU in its entirety and instead go for Excelsior College’s Master of Liberal Arts Program. I received provisional acceptance into the program today. I also processed my GI Bill paperwork and I enrolled in my first official graduate-level course with EC. The course is required of all EC grad students, it’s called “Graduate Research and Writing.” It’s 8 weeks long and the grade is composed of 4 research papers and a discussion board. It starts on Feb. 2nd. It looks fast-paced. The course was $1230 and the book was $32. The tuition is 100% covered by the GI BILL though.

As far as Harvard extension goes I still would love to take one of their courses but I just don’t think that financially it’s the best decision right now. Also their courses have a few hang-ups that make them much less palatable to undertake being in a deployed area. For instance the proctoring link-up, the 2-day delay in seeing the lecture, and the delay in getting necessary books delivered to me in time here. However, I could overlook all those things if the class was either covered by the GI BILL or if it were much cheaper, or even it they had a payment plan that was spread out over 3 or 4 months. Alas, this is not the case and thus I am not a Harvard extension student – yet.

If anyone is interested in how Excelsior online courses work or specifically in the graduate program please feel free to PM me. I know that my personal search for info prior to taking this path met with several dead-ends on this discussion board. I’d love to help proverbial “next guy” – or gal.
