Straighterline partnering with TESC and Excelsior - Professor_Adam - 01-14-2009 Well, that's my goal. I sent an email to that effect to Jenifer Dehart (dehartj@straighterline.com), whom some of you know from Straighterline. She says if there's enough evidence of students transferring Straighterline credits (through FHSU or other means) to TESC or Excelsior she can probably work toward getting those schools to partner directly with Straighterline. I think this is a great opportunity for those of us on the boards. She would like those of us that have done this or who are going to do it to email her and let her know. Here pasted below is our exact conversation: Jenifer, Is there any chance that Straighterline can reach agreements to partner with Excelsior College and Thomas Edison State College soon? Many of the nontraditional students on this forum (degreeforum.net) use those colleges. It would be of GREAT benefit if you had partnerships with those two colleges in particular and many on that discussion board echo my sentiments. For instance, I would gladly take ECON I and II and Accounting I right now if I knew they would transfer directly to TESC because I am working on a B.S. in Business Administration with them right now. Thanks. Adam Her response: Hi Adam, I agree it would be awesome if we were able to partner with those schools you mentioned, because I have heard a few students say they were eventually sending the credits there. I'm not sure that our marketers are specifically looking at these schools, but if I could determine how many students we have had come through here that attend Excelsior and TESC, that data might encourage them to seek a partnership. I'm going to talk with our director and see what he thinks about me soliciting this information from our students. If you know of specific StraighterLine students who sent their credits to Excelsior or TESC, let me know their names or emails. I'll start compiling this info and see what we can do. Thanks for the encouragement to look into this. Sometimes all people need is a little push. ![]() -Jenifer What do you say? Please email Jenifer and let's see if they will get direct partnership with TESC and Excelsior! If they could get this done I would jump up and down with joy!!hilarious Straighterline partnering with TESC and Excelsior - Professor_Adam - 01-14-2009 pcs Wrote:Just sent an e-mail to add my 2 cents worth. I told Jenifer this could be pretty big for them because so many of us "nontraditional" types love the "big-3." Anything that makes using our credits with TESC and EC is a welcome change. I sent her my email as well. Hopefully many, many more IC users chime in with Jenifer. Straighterline partnering with TESC and Excelsior - a4tunatemom - 01-14-2009 I think this would be great! My only suggestion would be that if straighterline is serious about this venture they need to add quite a few more courses which it does appear they are doing. Looks good though. Straighterline partnering with TESC and Excelsior - pcs - 01-14-2009 Anyone out there, on average how long does it take to complete a course from straighterline? It's possible to complete many of their courses in less than a month, which would cost you only $99. I did the college algebra course in three days, your results may vary ;-) Straighterline partnering with TESC and Excelsior - pcs - 01-14-2009 very nice thank you Straighterline partnering with TESC and Excelsior - Gary - 01-14-2009 Professor_Adam Wrote:It's possible to complete many of their courses in less than a month, which would cost you only $99. I did the college algebra course in three days, your results may vary ;-)My two cents is that ALEKS is the cheaper, quicker, better way to go, especially if you use algebrator, QuickMath and a couple other websites out there. I was done in 4 days and I dreaded Algebra. But if your looking for a letter grade and you think you can pull a good one, Straighterline might be the way to go. And if you can knock out a couple more for 99 bucks, that's also something to think about. Personally, I don't think Excelsior will go for it. Partnering and accepting credit are two different animals, time will tell.
