how do you test out of classes - balennon69 - 02-11-2009 Hello, This type of thing is new to me. I have never tested out of a class before. I found out that I was 14 credits short of my Bachelors and need credit fast. I have researched several things before landing here. Could anyone offer advice as to test prep, easier tests, how they are graded, etc. I am not familiar with the process or this site. Would greatly appreciate it. Need about 5 classes. how do you test out of classes - motuterry - 02-11-2009 balennon69 Wrote:Hello, I assume you are currently enrolled. If that is the case, check out your school's policy for accepting credit by exam programs. Thousands of schools readily accept Clep; DSST, ECE and other exams. The next step is to determine what credits you need. Are they upper or lower? All Clep testing is lower. DSST and ECE offer both. Then I would suggest you review specific subject areas. Keep in mind credit by exam is not a tool to bypass learning a subject but rather a method of gaining credit for what you know. If you are strong in an area and need minimal review, that's probably the direction you should consider if your looking to aquire quick credits. All Clep tests are pass or fail. 10 of the DSST testings are also pass/fail. DSST - GetCollegeCredit.com CLEP: Exam Descriptions I'd also suggest you join IC. Best $20 per month you'll ever spend if your looking for review for testing. InstantCert.com: Leader in Online CLEP and Dantes Exam Preparation Best wishes to you. CLEPs are multiple choice - pass/fail exams which will grant you 3 or 6 credits depending on the test. Best $80 you'll ever spend! Where do I locate study materials, say if I want to take Principles of Supervision? My first attempt at answering one of these, so hope it all goes okay. I had investigated this site and in late December joined. As a more mature student finally working on my degree, I can't afford to waste time. I had taken CLEP courses given at my college and "challenged" some of their courses which meant the Department for the course tested me at a bargain price of only $25.00 but much harder than CLEP. I need 2 more classes before I can do an internship in my chosen area to finish an A.S. I studied over one week of my winter break and took DSST Principles of Supervision and got a 60. Passing was 46. There were 86 questions. I'm not sure how they grade things and DSST could not explain it to me when I called but who cares. My college gave me the credits. Next on the list, over spring break, will be Environment and Humanity....then the internship. After watching these posts, I will be investigating a BS. This makes it all very doable! how do you test out of classes - balennon69 - 02-12-2009 Ok I am getting better at navigating around. I found the flashcards and things I was looking for. Thanks a bunch, appreciate it. I will try the test on IC alone and see what happens. how do you test out of classes - balennon69 - 02-12-2009 TU Terry found it how do you test out of classes - cookderosa - 02-12-2009 Essentially, there are 2 things going on here. One, this is a free forum- hang out and learn/contribute. The other thing, is signing up for IC. That gives you access to the Specific Exam Feedback folder and the flashcards. Since you said you joined, I'm guessing you mean you paid for IC. So, in that case, go over to the flash card area, and look up the test you are studying for. That's the spring board point. Don't worry about typing in answers on the flash cards- just use them to study- read the answers too. Remember, these are not the CLEP questions, just flash cards for the material. You can also go into the Specific Exam Feedback folder and read other's comments. That is gold in my opinion. P.S. Be sure Supervision counts, that's business credit, just double check before you get too far into the material. Will you be taking the CLEP at your school? how do you test out of classes - studyhard - 02-12-2009 balennon69 Wrote:Ok I am getting better at navigating around. Just as an FYI--if you're planning to do a test on IC alone, make sure you know the material very, very well. I think Prin. of Sup. is doable with IC alone, but if I were in your shoes I would make sure I go over every flashcard section at least four times. And if you have any questions or confusions about certain terms, be sure and google them. Treat no test lightly, even an easy one. Good luck! |
