Work at your own pace online classes? - brothermike - 02-20-2009

Hello all,

I hope this is not a dumb quesion, but can someone please direct me to where I can find "work at your own pace" online classes that TESC will accept?

For example, for classes that are not available through CLEP or DSST or TECEP like "small business finance" or "fund raising for non-profits". I am trying to figure out a way to earn my BSBA in finance from TESC in the shortest possible time and this is my last wall to push through (18 credit wall).

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I don't know if TESC will accept the (ACE reviewed) courses from PFC but their course are pretty much self-paced. I know that EC accepts them.

Do you know how much PFC charges per credit hour?

When I took PFC Tech Math 1 (a few years ago) it was only $55.00 per CH; this may have changed since then.

Thanks for your reply. Anyone else took a course from PFC recently?

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for, I will go through their courses and find out what TESC will accept.

Thanks a bunch!

Haven't done a PFC class but it seems if they're Ace reviewed TESC schould take the credits. What it will be applied toward depends on your degree plan. Wish I could find more 200 level and UL class options to work at your own pace then maybe take some proctored exam.

I love Penn Foster College. I am currently pursuing a diploma in Dog Obedience Training/ Instruction with them. I asked about taking a stand alone college course from them a couple months back and they quoted me $90 per credit hour.

Louisiana State University also offers distance ed courses at your own pace for $250 per course. The course I took even transferred to my super picky home university without any problems. They do have a three lesson per week submission limit, but I ended up doing them all at once and then sending three a week while I worked on other courses.

Katterina, thanks for the info. Did you, by any change, take any of LSU or Penn's English courses? Wonder if they require exams.

thanks

I took a psych course through LSU and I haven't yet taken any academic college courses through Penn Foster. LSU required two proctored exams through a local institution. The online course descriptions in the link will tell you exactly how many lessons and exams there are and what they entail (ie: essays, multiple choice, short answer, etc). I've heard Penn Foster is much more accomodating with proctors, although I haven't needed one yet.
