Easiest History CLEP??? - selivingston - 03-14-2009 Newbie here---First I wanted to begin by saying that I have viewed many of the posts and am honestly amazed at what many of you have accomplished!! I think everyone here should be very proud of what you have done! I wish I would have tried to CLEP out of many of my courses I have taken. I currently attend Liberty University online FT and also work FT for a CPA firm (in addition to wife and mom of three as well). It is tax season right now which equals high stress. It was my intention to try to finish with my BS degree in Accounting by this semester. I have two courses to go (besides the two I am taking currently). I will be moving onto my Master's Degree in Accounting after taking two CLEP tests (hopefully succeeding!!) in the Fall of 2009 in order to earn the education requirements to sit for the CPA exam. I fully plan on taking Principles of Management. I took this course at a community college years ago, but it only transferred in as "Introduction to Business" at Liberty. I prefer this course because it is a prerequisite for some of the management courses I will be taking on the graduate level. I have been able to skirt by this by taking some of the management courses that do not require this as a prerequisite. I am not too concerned with this one. I am looking for a history CLEP that will require the least amount of study time in order to pass. Additionally it would be nice to be able to only utilize Instantcert Academy for the majority of preparation for this CLEP. Suggestions???? The only 4 history CLEP exams that Liberty will accept are: Western Civilization I Western Civilization II U. S. History I U. S. History II Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Easiest History CLEP??? - studyhard - 03-14-2009 US History I would be my vote. It covers things most of us are familiar with--Columbus, the Revolutionary war, etc. US History II focuses much more on political and social issues as opposed to the traditional focus on wars, economics and stuff like that. For instance, there were very few questions about either of the World Wars. But there was lots of stuff about the political party splits and squabbles of the early 1900s (very confusing), women's rights, civil rights, labor unions, stuff like that. The Western Civ exams are harder, IMO, because they are much broader. You have to keep a whole bunch of countries straight, not just one. Of the two, Western Civ II was easier for me. But personally, I'd avoid them altogether and stick with US History I. Easiest History CLEP??? - ACoile - 03-14-2009 I agree, US History I was not that bad after ample study time. A lot of things come back from high school and it clicks. I would recommend using the REA book to supplement Instacert, the practice tests are great. Western Civ is very confusing, I wish I did not have to take it. Easiest History CLEP??? - lmech - 03-14-2009 Agreed, I took Western Civ I. It was a very broad test. I passed, but had to study forever. Do U.S. History I. FYI, Social Sciences and History exam(6credits) was pretty easy for me. Easiest History CLEP??? - CLEP101 - 03-14-2009 I thought History II was easier than History I, but probably because I studied more for II. I used IC and the following VOD website that I thought was very helpful. Resource: A Biography of America watch the videos that deal with the time in history of the test you will be taking. Good luck on your test, which ever you decide to take. Easiest History CLEP??? - lmech - 03-14-2009 History II does have some more current info. I would check out specific feedback to make my final choice. Good Luck! Easiest History CLEP??? - selivingston - 03-14-2009 Thanks so much for the feedback!! I feel that I will probably go for US History I, but I will go ahead and do the research for US History II as well, then make my final selection. This is such an informative site and everyone here seems so helpful---I honestly appreciate the info! I will look forward to getting these two out of the way! Now I just have to fit studying for two more courses into my crazy life........ Easiest History CLEP??? - liarock - 03-15-2009 Passed US Hist 1 a few weeks ago. Studied for a solid 2 weeks. Watched a few videos on revolutionary war. I remember knowing why famous writers works were important. H.B. Stowe, Thomas Paine etc.. Best of luck! Let us know how you do! Easiest History CLEP??? - adamd13 - 09-19-2009 I have taken Western Civ. 1 and US History 1 and 2, Western civ is the hardest, I say take US history 2, then 1, then Western civ 2 then 1. I only used IC its good enough preperation. |
