Does IC really work? - RMT - 04-18-2009 I am curious if IC works even if having no prior knowledge of that subject? From what I have read on the forums, it really works well I have ran into a few post of claiming IC did nothing for them. There are many others here that have taken more CLEPs/DSSTs/ECEs than me with just using IC. But it is not a bad idea to supplement your studying with other material. I have taken A&I Literature and Freshman Comp and scored a 50 on both with no studying, what-so-ever. I am trying to find a helpful tool to help study with. I accidently ran into this forum, it has been helpful for the most part. Does IC really work? - lolojapan - 04-19-2009 Dude...IC works if you work at it. I have used IC only, for several exams and have done well on all of them. I did put the time and effort to study IC, and discovered that as I learned what was in IC, that I was also learning important principles that allowed me to answer questions that required some thought. IC is not a magic bullet. You only get out of IC what you put into it. Does IC really work? - codface - 04-19-2009 Just remember, IC is actually in two parts. The flashcards are one part and the Specific Exam Feedback Forum is the other. You get access to both with your subscription. You also get a nifty place to put in your upcoming tests and dates, and to record your scores. Learn the flashcards, read the advice and study notes in the exam forums. Now you just have to put forth the effort. It's not easy, but it's very doable. Hey, if I can do it, so can you. I would not have started down this road if I hadn't found IC. Patrick Does IC really work? - skyfall123 - 04-19-2009 What IC does is take an entire semester of a subject and narrow it down to the key points. Once you learn the key points by going over the flashcards (in my case a minimum of seven to eight times), you are familiar with the material. Now I would much rather learn the key points about a subject, take an exam, pass it, then move on to the next subject, than flounder for weeks wasting time and money looking up everything under the sun about material that may or may not pertain to the subject. I was 17 for 17 with IC, and never spent more than 2 weeks on any one subject. This is because IC covers the KEY points. Good luck! Does IC really work? - Ruddigore - 04-19-2009 IC is an excellent tool, but like any testing tools, it will not cause you to pass on its own. You must use it to the fullest extent, memorizing (or at least becoming intimately familiar with) all of the materials - including the extra parts in the answer section. And if you ever do feel as though IC is not fully equipping you, take a practice exam. That will help you to know. I can attest that I used nothing else on two of my exams and did fine. You just have to keep plugging away at them. Right now, biology is giving me a fit. I have mastered two sets of the flashcards and at least that much is sticking in my brain at this point. Try it, you will be pleased. Does IC really work? - jadechow - 04-19-2009 I am a big fan of IC. It has worked for me time and time again. Like a lot of other posters have said, I always supplement my IC info with other sources. Mostly because I am a worry-wart and just want to be "over" prepared. I don't want to have any question about "if" I passed - just what the score is. For me personally what IC does is pulls together and makes sense of all the info that I absorb from other sources. It essentially distills down a whole semesters worth of info into something managable in a signficantly shorter timeframe. I consider the day that I discovered IC to be the best day of my educational journey and I have used IC for each and every test I've taken (except one which I took before my discovery). Hey, I have Bus Law II coming up - where's my flashcards??? It's like anything - you get out what you put in. Good luck, Kelly |
