Am I ready for Freshman Comp? - nick94 - 05-11-2009 Hello! I'm scheduled to take the Freshman English Comp CLEP on Thursday. I've reviewed the REA Freshman English Comp and taken the practice tests I scored a 53 and then studied and took the other practice test and got a 60. I've reviewed IC's English Comp flashcards and I've taken the Peterson Practice tests scoring 56 and 71. I'm going to take the CLEP version with the Essay so I've written a few five paragraph essays. What more should I do? Am I ready for Freshman Comp? - bkbarden - 05-11-2009 nick94 Wrote:Hello! I'm scheduled to take the Freshman English Comp CLEP on Thursday. What more should I do? Sounds like you have done a great job preparing. I aim for a score of at least 60 on the REA tests to feel confident going and taking the real thing. The chances of the actual test being 10 points harder than the practice one is pretty slim. Have you timed yourself in writing the essays? If not, I recommend that. Otherwise, review your wrong answers and make sure you know the right ones and go take the test! Let us know how it goes. Good luck and God bless! CollegeBoard says: "Candidates respond to two essay topics, spending approximately 45 minutes on each essay." I would recommend finishing your first draft of each essay by 30 minutes. That will give you time to further develop any sentences/paragraphs, spellcheck and grammar check, etc. If you can do it under 30, I think that's best... it's hard to really review and make good changes if you're under the time pressure. I don't know how long it normally takes me to get a first draft but now I have a target! Am I ready for Freshman Comp? - mechanix544 - 05-12-2009 I sat down and took this test yesterday out of the blue, and scored a 64, so its definitely doable. Just know basic literary terms, sentence structure and proper usage of verbs, nouns, adverbs, adjectives.....etc...... tis a fairly easy test, if you are well spoken and if you read alot, this one should present zero stress m8. |
