took dsst ethics - rome - 09-05-2006 Hey everybody, I took dsst's Ethics in America yesterday and I feel pretty good about it, but I wont know for 2-4 weeks. The test had 110 questions with an essay which I didn't have to take, so skipped it. I spent just over an hour on this test which isn't too bad for me, considering the length of this test. I spent about a week with the study materials, which were IC flashcards and wikipedia articles (John Lock, Immanuel Kant, etc.). I now have enough papers on philosophers to make a decent sized book. I went through the flashcards once, figured what I needed to look up and understand, started on a second run through but didn't finish. Oh, I also studied from the dsst eight test guide book. The only questions that I felt frustrated over, were the yes/no type. Some of those questions had names and methods that I recognized, but because of the wordiness I could not figure out what they wanted me to prove! Err, I hate it when I feel like I'm being tricked! I would advise to know what the philosophers felt positive about and negative about, and then be able to compare between the men (and women) themselves, and not just their doctrine. Know the terms of course, and how to apply them to scenarios. Keep religion in mind, modern and ancient. And keep those Greek people apart (Epicurus-Epictetus, Socrates-Plato-Aristotle) their theories are very similar--even their lives are hard to tell apart. Well in time we'll see if this advice is worth anything. I have my fingers crossed!:o took dsst ethics - cederic824 - 09-05-2006 "The only questions that I felt frustrated over, were the yes/no type.
