Books for Micro + Macro economics exams - bobbyreddy - 07-10-2009 Hello everyone, Good Morning. I am new to this forum and I would like to prepare for Microeconomics and Macroeconomics exams. Could anyone recommend the best book that provides the material along with the practice tests I can follow for these two exams? Thanks, bobby. Books for Micro + Macro economics exams - MCunningham - 07-10-2009 Bobby, I just took both of these exams within the last 2 weeks, so excellent timing! I was brand-new to economics, so I used the following study resources: 1. Economics for Dummies book 2. Cliffs Notes for Economics 3. Economics overviews at SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides 4. The audio presentations and PowerPoint slides located at Power of Economics (they're free, you download them and go to "Slide Show --> View Slide Show at the top", make sure you have your speakers turned up!) 5. The free videos at Resource: Economics U$A 6. And last, but certainly not least, the free Peterson's practice tests at MCPL: Education & Career (go to "Testing and Resource Center" --> "CLEP Prep". It's free, but you'll have to register. They only ask for minimal information.) Good luck! MC Books for Micro + Macro economics exams - MISin08 - 07-10-2009 MCunningham's list should get you where you need to go. If you find yourself wanting more (I did) these are great: Barrons Mankiw (there are numerous editions, all are useful) Especially if you can get them free from the library. If I had to pay I'd get Barron's. It really depends on what your experience with this subject is. Are you good with Economics? I hope so, since you're doing your first CLEPs on this subject! I was clueless about economics, so I used the REA books, IC and talked to my Grampa who has a master in Econ. That was enough for good scores for me... but it did take me longer to study than usual. It seemed to work well... you get a big picture overview first, then start learning the nitty-gritty. |
