Help me avoid the Cultural Diversity ECE? - argentnox - 07-17-2009 I am going through Excelsior, and I am about to enroll with them. I have been working on my spreadsheet as to what I need and do not need forever, and I was wondering if anyone can help me find a way to avoid some tests that I really do not want to take... I have what I HAVE taken in my signature. I am trying to avoid Cultural Diversity (since I am having a hard time finding study guides for ECEs), but I need to have 12 total humanities credits. I want to also see if I am on the right track with my overall plan. Here is my calculated breakdown (ones in red are ones I still have to take)... It is an 8 week online course and was very enjoyable. It is a ton of reading and you have to write an 8-10 page paper in APA format, but it was an enjoyable course with a great instructor. Just an alternative thought. Help me avoid the Cultural Diversity ECE? - peace123 - 07-17-2009 Maybe I am confused but I think the 6 credit humanities clep would count as 6 credits under your humanities section. ( Credits used to satisfy requirements in one area may simultaneously satisfy requirements in another area) So your 12 credits in Humanities would be : Ethics in America DSST - 3 credits Humanities CLEP - 6 credits Intro to World Religions CLEP - 3 credits But if you are getting a depth in humanities then one test or class would have to be upper level credits of 3 credits. Help me avoid the Cultural Diversity ECE? - perrik - 07-17-2009 The good news: you've already completed your humanities requirement! From the Liberal Arts catalog: "You must take at least one examination or course (at least 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours) within such disciplines as art, music, literature, foreign language, philosophy, religion, speech, or creative/advanced writing." So let's re-write that part of your gameplan... HUMANITIES Ethics in America DSST - 3 credits CLEP American Literature - 6 credits Intro to Speech Course - 3 credits The bad news: CLEP English Composition is not accepted at EC. We've confirmed that the CLEP English Comp with Essay is not accepted for any credit at Excelsior; the non-essay version might be, but it does not fulfill the Written English Requirement. You must take an actual English composition class or Excelsior's comp exam. Help me avoid the Cultural Diversity ECE? - barcotta - 07-17-2009 Why not give Cultural Diversity a shot? Here's a link to some notes that were painstakingly produced by one of our members based on the test description and the recommended text(s). They appear to be very comprehensive and there have been reports of others using them and passing the ECE exam. If I were you I would turn them into flash cards--study for a week or two and give it a go. Here's the link: culturediversitynotes Good luck! Help me avoid the Cultural Diversity ECE? - argentnox - 07-20-2009 Oh, I just spoke with my husband. Since he was off work today, he contacted them to see about the written portion. My writing class from Park University (that I need to take for my degree no matter what) counts for my written requirement. So the Comp CLEP will just roll into electives instead of the writing class being elective credits. So any other humanities I take could be just elective credits? Barcotta, I will certainly give it a shot! I just was not sure where to find any study material for it! That is a great help. Thank you very much! |
