spammers - cookderosa - 01-27-2010 I think we could cut WAY down on these spammers if there was some way to block newbies from using links in their sig line. These false posts are just a way to spam us with their crap through the links in their sigs.banghead spammers - JanusthePhoenix - 01-27-2010 Slippery slope, cook. If we start restricting freedoms, the spammers have already won! :patriot: Just kidding...the spams get moderator destroyed in fairly short order, so they don't really bother me personally. As long as the mods don't mind constantly doing that, I don't see a big problem. spammers - cookderosa - 01-27-2010 JanusthePhoenix Wrote:Slippery slope, cook. spammers - dark_dan - 01-27-2010 Just click the report post button. That's the fastest way to get a mod's attention. Looks like a tiny caution sign just above the Join Date/Location/Posts on the top right of the post. spammers - TMW2010 - 01-27-2010 cookderosa Wrote:I think we could cut WAY down on these spammers if there was some way to block newbies from using links in their sig line. I think this would be good if there was a way to do it, and would take a load off the mods as far as having to come in and clean up the messages (it seems like) almost every morning. spammers - Basket Weaver - 01-27-2010 We usually check the forum a couple of times a day and it really only takes about 15 seconds to delete the posts as well as permanently ban them. I believe one of us usually catches them in less than a day. As some of you have so eloquently pointed out, we don't have lives and this is a task we look forward to....:willynilly: spammers - categ - 01-27-2010 As some of you have so eloquently pointed out, we don't have lives and this is a task we look forward to.... lol....and we are forever indebted to you for the service you provide! spammers - Lindagerr - 01-27-2010 In the new post link when I see lots of post by a new name I figure it is spam. The moderators do seem to get rid of them fairly quickly, they must be on here almost as much as me

There are not as many here on this forum as I also moderate another education forum and that one gets bombarded constantly. I would say that if anyone comes across something that we may have missed please feel free to send me a PM and I'll take a look. Thanks! [/COLOR] |
