Right now I'm doing my first three years of credits just with clep and dantes tests, then I'll do that last year with TESC. I'm heading for a Bachelors (or possibly a Masters) in Accounting and I have a couple of questions...
First, I've been planing on using Algebra Clep for an elective but then I heard that the College Math Clep is easier plus it is 6 credits. Will TESC take that as an elective?
Second, I have to have PreCalc for accounting and I have never studied it before. I have the Math-U-See PreCalc book, which isn't good enough for the clep test. I've been looking into ALEKS and saw that I can get credit through them; however, is that easier than the clep test?

Hi all!
I just passed the Precalculus Clep this morning with a 60! I was so relieved to have passed and have this one over with! I studied for about 5 weeks because most of this material was very new to me! I took Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry in highschool but never took Precalculus or Trig. I was lost on what to use for study materials because there are not many threads on this subject, so wanted to add my input on it! I used the Precalculus REA book, Precalculus Demystified, and a Precalculus college textbook by Robert Blitzer! I first started off using the REA book and the Demystified book along with REA to help cement all the material in the REA book! I personally did not like the REA book because it left a lot of gaps and wasn't very clear on a lot of things! But I worked my way through the REA book and used the Demystified for clarification and took the first practice test in the REA! I did completely awful on it and was so discouraged at this point! I got the college textbook from a professor at UGA and it really helped! I studied in this book for a week and then studied with the Peterson's and REA tests! The Peterson's tests are easier than the actual exam but were very good in cementing the easier material! I would say that the REA tests are a little harder than the real thing, but are close to it! I also used the CollegeBoard test and it too was a little harder than the real thing!
On my exam today I made a fact sheet when I first arrived to take the test! This greatly helped me to have several formulas and values written down where I could just look at it and not have to pull it from memory. I memorized the unit circle with the values of pi and their sin and cos values; the trig identities; rules of logs; the sinusoidal graphs; and values of sin, cos, tan, etc. You especially need to know all of this! How changing the functions equation changes its graph. One question on changing radians to degrees. Know the graphs of the different Conics--Parabola, Circle, etc. It's really all about functions and their graphs! There were 3-4 fill-in-the-blank problems that you just needed to know what and where to plug the values into the problem and then solve it! Hope this helps someone out there! *This was my post after I took the Precalculus CLEP! Hope you find this helpful. I also don't see why TESC wouldn't take College Mathematics as an elective.
