Excelsior has updated the Student_Guide_and_Assessment_Catalog - Ruddigore - 03-18-2010 Where on My EC do you find the Student Guid and Assessment Catalog? The link won't work because it links to a password-protected document. Excelsior has updated the Student_Guide_and_Assessment_Catalog - peace123 - 03-18-2010 I am so not tech savy. I think you need to set up an account with Excelsior and log-in to access it. I tried to attach the pdf but it was too big. Ruddigore to answer your question: In MYEC: It is under exams ( click the exams on the top of the page on the right hand side you will see ->EC Exams Resources and Services under that is a link to the pdf Excelsior has updated the Student_Guide_and_Assessment_Catalog - NAP - 03-18-2010 Thanks for letting us know. It looks like they have clarified some policies and added UExcel. Excelsior has updated the Student_Guide_and_Assessment_Catalog - NAP - 03-18-2010 Ruddigore, that is funny. I am glad you were already using the most up-to-date information when you answered my question. Excelsior has updated the Student_Guide_and_Assessment_Catalog - NAP - 03-18-2010 I have only gotten to look at it very briefly, but I noticed 3 things: They added lots of info about the UExcel program. They added a note to explain how credits are awarded for foreign language CLEPs. (The chart has confused a lot of people.) They added a note to explain the changes to the English Comp CLEP exams this summer. They will not count toward the WER either, but they still did not say if they will award any credit for them. Excelsior has updated the Student_Guide_and_Assessment_Catalog - mlwilliamsiv - 03-18-2010 You said it NAP. I for the life of me can't figure out why they keep including English Comp & Freshman Comp in the CLEP list in the catalog. I was told that they stopped even awarding 3 credits for the exam because they can't/won't "split" credits anymore. I was told the change went into effect in January 2009. I'm going to call them tomorrow because I don't understand how you can "revise" a catalog and still overlook the obvious. Anybody with half a brain looking at that would automatically assume that they will get 6 credits for that exam because that's what it shows in the catalog. All it says is that it doesn't fulfill the WER. It doesn't say they won't award credit for those exams at all. I really do hate to sound so hateful but stuff like that really gets under my skin. I just think it's pitiful when the student has to correct the teacher. I'm done ranting now, tune in next week for more MarshallTV!!! ![]() From a loyal degree seeker, Excelsior has updated the Student_Guide_and_Assessment_Catalog - mlwilliamsiv - 03-19-2010 Hello everyone. I called Excelsior today and spoke with Martha in the "Test Office" in regards to the CLEP exams I mentioned in my previous post. I told her that I didn't understand why they still have Freshman College Composition & English Composition listed in the CLEP list in the Student Guide to Credit by Examination (see pgs.24-25) if they weren't awarding credit at all for either exam. She said that she would forward that information to someone else so they can check into it. I told her to keep me updated and I will update you all when I find out more. I just don't understand how that was overlooked in the first place. It said nothing on that sheet about the policy change they implemented in January 2009. They had no problems mentioning that they still weren't going to award exams Upper Level credit even though the ACE recommendations labeled those exams as UL. (see Student Guide to Credit by examination; p.27) So I just find it hard to believe how they managed to overlook the two english exams. I hope I hear something by next week.
