FEMA Questions - rmroberts - 04-20-2010 Hello, I have searched the forum and read about FEMAs and the sound really great, but I still have a few questions. What I gather is you download some info for the exam and then you can take a test at home. Is this right? Someone said they did some in an hour. Is that typical? If not, how much time should I expect these to take? Can I use them as general ed. electives or would they have to be free electives? Would there be a problem with me being 16 and not yet graduated from high school? Do I need to enroll in TESC before I start doing them? EDIT: Also is it true that it's 100% free with TESC and I don't need to transfer them to the other college first? How do I know which courses TESC will award credit for? Is there a limit of 25? The only info I could find from TESC website was it said you can get 1-25 credits from FEMA. Thank you! FEMA Questions - nerako - 12-28-2011 this sounds amazing! I wish someone would answer your questions! FEMA Questions - burbuja0512 - 12-30-2011 I do have a FEMA question to add, though I am sure the answer is out there and I just missed it.... My DS and DH do FEMA courses occasionally to compliment the other courses they are studying, but neither is enrolled. They both want to eventually enroll at TESC. Will it be an issue to get the FEMA credits transferred if they don't enroll for a while? Thanks! Shouldn't be an issue, FEMA sends out a transcript that's not unlike any college transcript. I'm not sure if this is the answer to your question but before I started taking my FEMA this month, I sent an email to FEMA asking them if I didn't request a transcript for possibly a year, would my credits still be there? This was their response: Any course completion with our office will always show on your transcript. So I think even if you don't enroll right away they will keep your credits. Hope this helps some! They have a listing of dates for the courses approved for credit. So if he took IS-1 today, while approved for credit and does not officially enroll until 2015 when that FEMA course is no longer active, he would still get credit. It is important that you know what courses are active when they take the exams. This forum is an excellent monitor for that information as you will most likely always have an active TESC student around who could get the current information. |
