Good luck!!! I hope you get in!
I am just starting my research into grad schools (you may remember my son may go this direction) and wonder if you guys have also looked at the program at Johns Hopkins? I know they are an amazing university in general, not sure how their cybersecurity (engineering college) compares. https://engineering.jhu.edu/fields-of-st...rsecurity/

Looks like a great program, BUT essentially I could take 1 course per year at their tuition rate and the rate of tuition reimbursement at my work...
"The typical tuition rates for Engineering for Professionals courses during the 2018–2019 academic year are $1,150 for undergraduate (200-level) and $4,250 for graduate (600-level and higher) courses."

Same, that price tag is too much. And I’m too lazy to take the GRE
If you don’t mind spending around $25k, UPenn has an MS in Computer Information Systems in partnership with Coursera. Not a bad price for an Ivy League diploma without having the “extension” scarlet letter stamped on it

A former computer forensics instructor of mine is currently going through a doctorate program at JHU for Cyber Security. This guy had 6 terabytes of malicious code saved to his home server and reverse engineered it for fun. The JHU program is no joke.

WOW! I'm totally in agreement. We have 2 degrees here that my hubby completed at the pace of reimbursement. We'll do that all day any day over borrowing.

Awesome! I'll save it to my list. Assuming he goes straight through, we are still 3 years (best case) away from grad school. Who knows how the MOOCs will change between now and then!!?
EDIT: I'm not seeing anything from UPenn - do you think they jumped ship??? https://www.coursera.org/degrees
Forget it- I found it... not searchable in the degree tab, but ok lol. https://www.coursera.org/degrees/mcit-penn

I looked at the JHU offerings and as a school they're great, but for STEM topics I'd take gatech over most other distance offerings.
NC State would also be a solid local option for you (i think you're in NC) if the price is right and they have a focus your son likes.
Currently studying for: Still deciding.
Done!

I already made a separate thread that most of you following probably already saw, but for prosperity/in case anyone else stumbles upon this thread down the road -- I was accepted into the first cohort, starting January 2019
I'll be sharing my experience in the other thread once it gets going:
