Masters/PhD in Psychology/Neuroscience options
#11
That’s good to know how UT-Tyler has a greater standing than others.

General Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Social Psychology, Positive Psychology, ABA, or Consciousness studies would be my first preference. JFK Uni. has a Masters in Transformational and Consciousness studies. I would be very interested in that, but it looks like this course happens in person, and not online. Also, I am not sure about the price. I plan to write to them, nevertheless.
School, IO, Clinical, Media, or Health Psychology might not be my preferences; but I am kind of ok with them.
I am ok with entrance tests as I have already cleared GRE once with a 318 score. Thinking if I should attempt again to try and raise my scores. I have cleared TOEFL as well, but I don’t think I will be asked for it again, as I have earned my bachelors from a US university.

You are welcome. I came across this today: https://www.learn.edu/

They have some interesting programs- one of them being a Masters in Consciousness Studies & Transpersonal Psychology. While that is an area of interest for me, I am a bit dubious about this institution. Take a look, and let me know your thoughts.

Even though the institution is not a diploma mill, it's only licensed by the state to grant degrees. This would be sitting at the "unaccredited" status, meaning it doesn't even have what I call, minimal accreditation - not Nationally Accredited (No USDOE/CHEA recognition). Don't even both looking at this one...

Thanks bjcheung77. These are nuances about the US Efucation system that I don’t fully understand as yet. I am thankful for being able to consult forum members like you.
I looked up IGNOU in India. Firstly, the overview of their MS Psychology does not interest me very much. Secondly, they only offer it as a ‘Distance’ option, and not ‘Online.’ If I have understood it right, the Distance option entails visiting a local ‘study center’ authorized by IGNOU. So, this is like attending a proper B&M school. And from what I have heard from some friends, these study centers are poorly organized.

Hey Supermind,
I was just cleaning up some of my documents and this is another shortlist of Graduate Psychology programs.
I think this is a newer one that you haven't posted before in your thread. Anyways, here's the hyperlink.
List Link: https://www.bestmastersdegrees.com/top/a...gy-private

Here's another quick list for you to take a look at as well, 2 RA's and 5 NA's.  Since you're in India...
As long as the school is recognized by the CHEA/USDOE, you should be fine with NA's.
I like the two RA options below, but the funky part of me also likes the last two NA options.

Regionally Accredited
Life University Link:  https://www.life.edu/academic-pages/grad...sychology/
(as mentioned in previous link 1 of 3 in the USA that offers a Masters of Science in Positive Psychology)
I was looking at this program when I wanted to do the Logan University Bachelors in Human Biology
My thread: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Psychology

Regis University - Similar to Amberton's MAPD, and allows you to select courses in Positive Psych/Neuroscience
https://www.regis.edu/CCLS/Academics/Deg...-Arts.aspx
https://www.regis.edu/CCLS/Departments/B...urces.aspx

Nationally Accredited - Masters/DBH
Aspen University  Master of Arts in Psychology & Addiction Counseling  http://www.aspen.edu/tuition-rates
Atlantic University  Master of Arts in Transpersonal Psychology  https://www.atlanticuniv.edu/admissions/tuition/
California Coast University  Master of Science in Psychology  https://www.calcoast.edu/m.s.-master-of-...ology.html
Holmes Institute  Masters of Consciousness Studies Degree  http://holmesinstitute.edu/wp-content/up...018-19.pdf
Cummings Institute  Doctor of Behavioral Health  https://cummingsinstitute.com/doctorate-...al-health/

Since you have so many links and schools mentioned in those links.  You might want to review them all again.  Find the top choices from their program offerings and then create one small spreadsheet to decide on which is better. Once you make the list, apply to the top 5 choices and skip the rest.  If by chance you don't get accepted by the top 5, then you have a list of top 10 choices right after to apply for.

Thank you so much bjcheung77! Very helpful and kind of you to post these options. I will look into all of them carefully- some of them already seem to appeal to my interests. One question: Do all these universities follow similar admission schedules/deadlines like traditional grad schools- Apply by December this year to enrol for Fall semester next year? Or do the online programs have flexible terms like TESU- you can apply during different windows throughout the year?

If I'm not mistaken, the Cal Coast University program is actually self-paced.

Hi bjcheung77, and mysonx3.

Cummings Institute DBH program is very interesting. However, it seems like they expect prospective applicants to hold a Masters degree or higher. They don't seem to be open to Bachelors degree holders. This is what I gathered from their website. Could you confirm?
Holmes' Institute Consciousness Studies course feels long and also expensive - $ 27000 for 3 years. Atlantic University is ok. Cal Coast is a great option; I have even written to them for more details.
Life University and Regis University are very good! I have written to them as well. Brandman University has a competitive price (3500/6 months). It's just that Organizational Leadership isn't my first preference. If they offered a General Psychology or Positive Psychology course for such a price, I would enrol immediately.

Supermind, you mentioned transpersonal psychology, which is an interest of mine too so I'll add a program here that was started by some of the current giants in that smaller-than-it-oughtta-be but profound field.

Hoping to find a career path, I went to a transpersonal psychology conference in Prague a couple years ago keynoted by Dr. Stan Grof and Dr. Rick Tarnas. While I did not find a clear economic path for my situation, I found the programming fascinating and the conference enlightening.

Anyway, fascinating field and for the quality of education/exposure, this program should make the list too. It's got some residencies but to study with the major current contributors to the field, that's when a residency may make some sense. Anyway, thanks for a great thread. Here's my addition: https://www.ciis.edu/academics/graduate-...psychology

Next Goal: TESU BA in Psychology & Computer Science
