Difference between TESC majors
#3
aspirant Wrote:What is the difference between the BA in Humanities, the BA in Social Sciences and the BA in Liberal Studies at TESC? I realize they are pretty much the same as far as what is required to earn each degree. But what would you say is the difference in the titles? Hope that makes sense.......

Thanks!

33 credits is a major/concentration.

Social Science, Math/Nat Sci, Humanities, and Liberal Arts are fields that allow you to cherry pick from the subjects contained within the field in any combination that gets you to 33.

For instance, within the field of social science, you have subjects: psychology, sociology, anthropology, criminal justice, history, government, etc. A "social science" degree will contain any of those in any mix you choose.credits of one (say psych), 18 of another (say sociology), 3 credits of another (anthro) and any other combination you can dream up - within TESC's parameters.

A degree from a subject, like history, requires you pick all of your 33 credits from the subject of history. It is highly likely that you are also told exactly what classes you might need. (x credits in world history, x credits in American history, etc)
