Even the government wants to see your actual college transcripts to verify your education when you apply for a federal job, but they do not give a rat's ass about that fancy piece of framed paper with the Old English lettering. The degree is for your personal enjoyment.
The major exceptions to this are the professions that work on your body or your animal's body (physicians, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, dentists, chiropractors, pharmacists, occupational therapists, veterinarians, etc.) and attorneys who work in private practice. While these people probably did not need to bring their diploma to the interview or human resources office, they usually do display their diplomas in their offices and workplaces conspicuously to prove that they have the educational attainment to do what they claim to do.
My former economics teacher has had his degree since the early 1970s, and he states that no one has ever asked to look at his degree. The people who do the hiring simply verify his educational attainment through background checks.
