Grit is pretty much impossible to judge though. Totally subjective.
This is why I think it's better to indirectly measure it by GPA. The article Supermind linked to said that people with "grit" were more likely to raise their GPA than people who are smart. Their chart shows that people with high self-discipline have higher GPAs than people with a high IQ.
Of course, that doesn't mean that innate talent isn't important. I recently read research that found that the average college GPA among millionaires isn't high.
