Cheapest Masters in Psych?
#1
Is California Coast University's MS in Psychology the cheapest one that we collectively know about around here?

$250 per credit, 39 credits = $9759 total.

Not concerned about NA vs RA in this case, nor a path to licensure (and in fact licensure paths would require at least a 60cr masters program for CA, so they'll be more expensive regardless)

Anyone got CCU beat?

FHSU charges $298.55 for their online graduate programs (regardless of state residence), and at 30 cr for the school pysch without EdS option that puts it just slightly under the Cal Coast, with the benefit of it being RA. Not a bad option. Looks like the Exp Psych degree is not available online, and the MS in  Psych is 62 credits, taking it out of the running.

Competency-based programs might end up cheaper if you can finish fast enough. University of Phoenix, Walden, and Capella all offer CBE psychology programs.

Yeah I almost mentioned Walden/Capella, but the likelihood that those psych programs would be completed in a term or two is minimal (though doable, we've seen Walden done here on the forum in I think 2 terms, iirc).

Does UoPhx have a Psych masters cbe program? I didn't see it on their CBE listings.

California Coast seems brutal to me. From what I understand from a coworker, they send you books and you write papers. That’s about the long and the short of it. Courses that have tests are open book. She is doing the Masters of Ed degree. It could be a good fit for someone who just wants to work completely on their own at an affordable price. I’d probably consider it as a secondary degree if I just wanted to use up reimbursement funds from my employer. Which I actually intend to do as long as I have that benefit. Wink

Thanks. It appears they might cap you at 4 courses per term? Still, looks like at that rate it could still be done in 3 terms @ $8247 total, so not bad. Not that CCU, Walden, or Capella have particularly good reputations, but I think I'd still pat the extra to avoid the UoP name.

That actually sounds pretty ideal for me, at least for a psych AoS Smile
