I want to earn a BA through TESC, but I'm confused on what I am required to take... I'm currently using this website as a guideline/reference, but after rereading this several times I just don't understand.
Areas of study I'm interested in are; computer science, foreign language, art, music, environmental studies, or psychology. If I choose the Area of Concentration option, is it saying I'm able to choose 3 of the subjects I have listed? For Free Electives, I can just take and earn any credits in whatever?
After surfing through some threads on this forum, I read that I don't need to be enrolled in any college or TESC, and can just take the exams first then apply to transfer them? Or is it easier to just enroll in TESC and transfer credits periodically?
If anyone knows of any detailed guide explanining this process, a link would greatly be appreciated.

First, you need to figure out what you want to major in and how it will get you to your goal. Liberal studies is a major (the areas of study at TESC are equivalent to majors except for in the BSBA programs where they are more like concentrations) that encompasses all of the liberal arts: science, math, social science, and humanities. TESC considers computer science to be a natural science. You can decide to go in another direction and choose a more focused major. Social science, humanities, and natural science/mathematics will be more focused than liberal studies, but still very broad. A major in computer science, psychology, or environmental studies will be very focused. You could cover your other interests in gen ed and free electives.
Anything that counts as college-level credit can be used in free electives. You don't need to be enrolled to start testing, but an annual enrollment fee is something you don't have to worry about when you're under the Per Credit Tuition Plan. People often delay enrollment when they are under the Enrolled Options Plan or a similar tuition plan at the other two of the Big 3 where you have to worry about annual or semester fees.

So my major would be Liberal Studies if I choose the Area of Concentration route? Did I do this right?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm going to be a high school senior. I've taken a few AP classes, but I'm unsure how much I have accumated. When school starts I'm planning on talking to the guidance counselor.

Free electives and general education electives are two different things. General education electives are for anything that falls into the humanities, social science, and natural science/mathematics categories. Anything can go into free electives including business, allied health, and technology credits. Maybe these links will help you.

Have you passed any AP exams? TESC accepts the New York University Foreign Language Test.

One of the things to think about when choosing a degree is not just what you would like to study, but also what sort of job you would like after you graduate. Do you have any ideas about what sort of career you'd like to have?
Also, some of the CLEP exams are worth 6 credits instead of just 3, so that could get you further along quickly. If you have some AP credit too, that's great!

I don't know what I really want to pursue as a career. I'm interested in the art field, but it has one of the worst unemployment rates. When I get a BA, I plan on applying to teach English abroad in Korea and if I have time, freelance as an artist on the side.
@sanantone
Thanks for the references, will be looking into them.

I appreciate the concern sanatone, but I'm in need of a degree with as little time and money as possible.
