30 Free Ace Credits

Yeah... It's all a bit off. But if it works, I save 4 grand and knock out 2 semesters of credits!

Every person who has managed to sign up with them has had to take that course first. No other options apparently. If you don't need it, bummer, because that's the one you get! I haven't heard back from anyone to say whether they've received the credits in their ACE account, or whether they've taken any additional courses. Also haven't heard if you can choose your next course, or if you're stuck there as well with what they choose for you. I guess if you have nothing, it might be useful, but most on here want specific courses.

Please post and let us know what happens after you take the course (if you take it).

You dont get to choose your courses. I emailed them about it and I was told that you have to provide them with all of your unofficial transcripts so that they can determined the courses you will take. Because of this i decided to be dropped from the program. I have more than enough lower level credits. Only need upper level at this point.

I knew it was an issue if you already had a lot of credits. But what if you were starting from scratch? What if you were going to get a business degree, and wanted to make sure you got accounting, management, and organizational communication? Or what if you just don't like Philosophy and don't want to take it? And why aren't they asking for your transcripts AND your degree plan? How are they figuring out what you should take if they don't know what your plan is?

This whole thing makes no sense. It should be based upon what you need and want, not what THEY determine you should take. If they are going to let you take 10 courses, why do they care which 10 you take???

Good question! Im sure it has everything to do with the way they have things set up with partner institutions. I asked about a specific course and the basically gave me a run down saying, "that's not how that works."

I do think it is a great resource for students starting from scratch since a newbie might need all the courses they offer I assume they offer 10 specific courses and if you dont fit the mold you dont qualify for the free credits.

Right. Which that is exactly where I am. I have nothing at this point and being able to get 30 credits for free sounds like a hell of a deal. I also am not being picky about what my degree is so at this point I'll tell them I'm going for business and we'll go from there. I think in an ideal world I will do a BSBA from TESC and then a Masters in International Studies/Relations from my local state school.
