I'm not even sure why this is a "new" article, the "free courses" aren't made specifically for Canadians as it's just Coursera and Edx freebies. The content may be from Canadian universities, but it's for anyone who has access to the net...
So, suggestion is to look at any courses that you find interesting, or a subject matter that is unique and specific to your needs, it doesn't have to be from any specific university. I should look at some from France or Quebec as I want to brush up on my rusty French!

No, nothing on Coursera is for credit. The only exceptions are the Google certificates. The Google certificates have been ACE recommended for credit. They're not free, but they're relatively cheap.

I'm dragging this a bit off-topic but I just ran into a school that takes some edX courses for credit so I just thought I'd insert the link here

Most classes are available for audit for free. The Google IT Specialist is potential credit, but you may have to pay for it. There have been promotions where that one is free and it is free for students of certain universities. They also have other options for credit, but they are usually part of something like a Microbachelors and typically cost similar to getting the same credits through a university. You have to apply and be accepted in to those programs.
