Hi everyone, I'm getting a little confused on the double minor this with the B.A.S./B.L.S., and could use some advice:
I am officially starting Fall 2. All my gen eds (and some of the required other business classes) are complete. I have transferred in 6 UL elective credits from Sophia (Business Law and Business Ethics).
The only classes I need to take to finish the B.A.S. Management are:
- Bus 141
- Bus 321
- Bus 415
- Bus 353
- Bus 335
- Bus 469
Leaving me 4 classes left to complete my residency credits. I have transferred Intro to Stats, Intro to Psychology, and Lifespan Development from Sophia. I still have my Study.com account for another month, and could possibly bang out Social Psychology and Abnormal Psychology before the start of the term, giving me 15 psych credits.
A Psych minor requires 21 credits. Technically, to fulfill the "core psychology" credits, I'd only need PSY 311 and PSY 370, and to get to my 30 hours, 2 more UL classes. However, that leaves me short on the 12 hour minor residency credit and the 18 UL credit for the second minor.
Any thoughts on what would be the best way to go about this?

You could do any two additional UL classes of interest, like something in history, political science or another subject.

If my understanding is correct, if you fulfill the residency requirement for the first minor in a BAS or BLS, and the 30-credit overall residency requirement, you don’t have to again fulfill a residency requirement in additional minors on the same degree.

You're limited to 90 transfer credits as you must complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI. You don't have to complete 2 minors. You can take whatever courses you want for the general electives. When I was at UMPI, you did have complete a specific number of credits in a minor at UMPI. I'm not sure if that has changed.

Right - so as far I know, you can transfer in as many credits as you like, but only 90 will count. I'm hoping to replace some of the random electives I have with the new credits.
For the BLS, you need a minimum of 24 UL credits. But since I have an AAS, I can do the BAS. This is where it gets confusing - according to the 25-26 academic catalog, the BAS only needs 12 UL credits as a part of the 30 credit hour residency, but my degree plan from UMPI says you need 18 UL credits for BAS. I'm sticking with the 18 number, because I think it's a typo or something - it only appears on the 25-26 catalog, and the others years all say 18.
The management minor by itself has a total of 18 required credits, 3 of which are UL. I added a couple more UL BUS credits (so they will go toward the MAOL), so I'll be set for that. (Plus I'll need one extra UL to hit the 18 BAS residency ULs).
The Psych minor requires 21 credits. I can transfer in 15 of the 21, leaving me just the 2 remaining Psych courses to take at UMPI.
From what I understand reading on this forum, you don't have to fill the residency requirements again. But what I'm not sure about is if I'd need 18 separate ULs for Psych. the ULs don't overlap, so I'm not really sure how it works.

The psych minor courses will be included in your general electives. You have to complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI. The first minor had residency requirements when I attended as well. You need to complete all of the psych minor requirements. Things may have changed with the 25-26 catalog so the 18 UL credit may be correct. They make changes every year. Also the catalog sometimes leans towards to on campus students so you may end up with different answers in YourPace.

For BLS, you need 24 UL credits total. For BAS, you need 18 UL credits total. I would suggest adding in a minor if you're very close to finishing the minor or you already have the requirements for the minor from previous transfer credits. In other words, max your transfers up to 90 credits, and complete classes that can't be transferred in for your residency requirements.
