BSBA General Management question (total Newbie)
#1
Greetings all!

I have been tossing around the idea to get my degree for a while, and, finally just decided to crack down and get serious. I told a long time friend about my plans and he told me that he got his in less than a year using a test out method, and, then proceeded to show me this forum, Aleks, Straighterline, informed me of The DSST, CLEP, and TECEP, This got me fairly excited for taking this path although I know it wont be easy but I am still optimistic that I can get it all done within 10 months to a year . Anyway that's enough about me and on to my question.

I figured I would do the plan laid out by Sanatone

Now I was looking at the TECEP and noticed that instacert only had three catagories, now will the TECEP tests laid out in this plan be covered under those three catagories? or will I have to find another way to obtain the study material for these tests? and will I have to find a study center for these tests or can I take it online? also is there anything I can change or modify on this list I think Sanantone has a fantastic list but it never hurts to ask

Thank you all! :hurray:hilarious

I am not too familiar with the BSBA but have heard a lot of great things about it. If you look around the forum you will find a lot of great information. TESC recently made changes to their degree plans so some of the degree plans have been changed slightly. The Gen Ed requirements have changed. Most of the requirements have remained the same, they just need to be moved around your plan slightly. For the Uexcel there is a $50 testing fee for the 2 hr exams in addition to the $95 fee. The TECEPs are now $37 per credit. TECEPs can be taken online through Proctor U, though there is an option, I believe still, for paper exams. TESC has study guides online for the TECEPs and lists recommended books as well as other resources. Some of the TECEPs are aligned somewhat to Saylor or other free resources. For instacert if you look at the Uexcels there are three TECEPs listed, PR is one but I can't remember the others.

If you go to the TESC degree plans page, you will see a notice in my area that says the degree plans will be updated for the 2015-2016 school year. So far, I have only updated the general education requirements. The changes for the BSBA business cores and areas of study aren't major, so you can still use the test out options on the old plans, but you will have to take out business electives and add microeconomics, macroeconomics, and business communications to the business core. Also, you will need three math classes in gen ed: statistics, college algebra or quantitative analysis, and another math that is intermediate algebra or higher.

Ignore the business electives requirement listed on the website. There are errors that they haven't fixed yet.

price update.
new TECEP price.

TECEPÂ Examinations Per Credit Attempted
Matriculated $37
Non-Matriculated $50

i am a newbie too.. not sure what's the difference between Matriculated vs Non-Matriculated.
i am under the impression is we take the per-credit plan, each TECEP will cost $150.

matriculated means that you are enrolled in and pursuing a degree at TESC, so even under that per-credit plan, you should get the $37 per credit hour price. non-matriculated would be someone who is taking the TECEP and then transferring it to another school. I'm planning to register for another TECEP this week, so I will confirm which price I get.

well I just looked at TESC's degree plan for the BSBA in General Management and I saw that they require a capstone in Strategic Management, for all that I would rather get a BA Degree in Liberal arts or social science which still has the capstone but less math. The primary reason aside from having a degree was, like a couple other people on here, I am going to be an English teacher overseas and need a degree I can get done not just quickly.

Unlike the other capstones, you can test out of Strategic Management or transfer it in from another school. Many people have taken the Penn Foster course. There is also a Business Policy CBE (competency-based exam) from CSU you can use.

For a non-business person, you'll find the business degree very businessy and mathy. Liberal arts and social science are excellent options for checking the box degrees, I earned mine in social science- loved it! (The requirements are different from when I did it, so my degree plan wouldn't apply)

Good stuff! Looks as if they made an effort to keep the price affordable. Especially since, if I understand correctly, the ProctorU fee is included.

I should have checked the price before I posted this, but $37 per credit equals $111 per test. I just registered to take one in the August term and it was $111 which is the same I have paid for the previous TECEPs going back to May term. I am enrolled in the per credit plan.
