Does anyone know how to place Aleks? I believe my daughter is ready for Aleks Inter. Alg. She is still in highschool, but from the Aleks website info it appears she could tackle Inter. Alg. and then apply for college credit. That would be great as she was planning on taking Alg 2 then sitting for CLEP anyway. Just not sure if there is some placement test or someone has experience in comparing the two. Thank you. Also, she's already passed 2 CLEPS so she's familiar with college levels.

On the ALEKS website you can do a free trial and let her take the initial assesment and see how she does. But don't be too discouraged if she starts low. Many people start around 15% and just work their way up to the 70%. ALEKS teaches you, so its okay to start low.
I did ALEKS inter. algebra about two years after I did algebra 2 and I was over 70% on the initial assesment.

RM- I noticed you did both CLEP College Math and ALEKS Inter. Alg. for TESC degree. Were you able to get math credits for both or did one end up as elective?

Yes I got math credit for both of them. They are shown on my academic evaluation as MAT-102 and 103 (College math) and MAT-115 (inter. algebra)

Intermediate will be the same as high school algebra 2. Be sure when she registers, that she is registering for the version that is ACE evaluated, you'll want to be sure she gets credit.
The College Algebra CLEP won't match Intermediate Algebra, it will match College Algebra- a click harder. Significant overlap, but different courses. She should be able to take both and get credit for both without credit duplication.
What she COULD do, is take intermediate algebra then take the CLEP college math. Also has overlap without duplication! Plus, college math is 6 credits!

likely beginning algebra will NOT count as a 100 level math class, ymmv
assessments are not timed, take as long as you like. My son takes DAYS sometimes.
