I am scheduled to take this exam on the 10th. My university requires the essay. Can anyone give any tips for the essay portion? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There is not an essay for A&I Lit. Are you possibly taking College Composition?

Schools can, and many do, require an essay for A&I Lit.

I didn't take it, but my daughter did. As I recall they offered up a couple of topics and she got to choose one. I remember advising her to use the 5x5 format to try and get the essay done within tight time constraints.

An option to the argumentative essay outlined above is to simply use your body paragraphs to tell different parts of the story as opposed to trying to make your case. You might talk about a things attributes rather than trying to be persuasive.

My opinion is that they are typically trying to gauge your ability to output a decent written work, not like there is anything specific to study.
