Apple 2026 MacBook Air 13-inch Laptop with M5 chip $899
#1
I just noticed the MacBook Air price dropped $200 from where it normally is. In an era of high RAM, memory, and video card prices, this might be the best deal we see for a while.

Hmm, that's just regular pricing, Amazing/Apple, and all of these other corporations just play pricing games with consumers. When their parts or supplies go up in cost, they raise the price, when it goes down to normal, the pricing goes back to normal or the regular price. I was looking at this model a few months ago and that should have been the price then. Link: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/03/...ng-prices/

Wait... I typed too soon, that was the 13" and not the 15", they did change the pricing, haha!

I don't really do anything with a computer where a MacBook Neo wouldn't be good enough, although my eyes aren't getting any younger, so I'd rather have a 15" screen than a 13" one.

So while I don't really need a new computer yet, if they made a 15" "Neo Grande" that's probably the one I'd find most tempting.

Yes, I'm waiting for the Macbook Neo 2 to come out later this year or early next year. It'll sport the A19 Pro chip and 12G RAM, preliminary testing on the chip shows it's at the Macbook Air M2 multi core / M3 single core level. I mean a phone soc chip can do so well vs a mac cpu, impressive design indeed! Rumors are also about the Mac Mini Neo, at $299 for an affordable desktop using Mac OS and half the ram/speed of the Mac Mini at 1/3rd the price.

What a lot of people do is use their laptop like a desktop. Basically, you can use a USB-C to HDMI cable to connect it to an external monitor, then use an external keyboard and mouse. The laptop stays nearby, always closed, and you rarely need to touch it unless you're traveling with it.

That way, you only have to buy one device, and it can serve both as your home office computer and your travel computer.

Yeah, I heard that the A18 can only support up to 8GB of RAM, while the A19 can support up to 12GB. I think 12GB is a much better target because Chrome can use a ton of memory, and gaming performance can start to stutter once you're pushing the limits of 8GB. For many users, 12GB is the sweet spot.

Since the latest iPhones use the A19 chip, it's possible Apple has a supply of lower-binned or otherwise unusable A19 chips that could be repurposed for the Mac Neo 2. I also watched a teardown video of the MacBook Neo, and the battery looked surprisingly easy to replace compared to most other MacBooks.

The Mac Mini Neo idea actually came from social media. I saw someone post an AI-generated image on X (formerly Twitter) showing concepts for a Mac Mini Neo and an iMac Neo, and I thought both were pretty interesting ideas.
