I agree with jam123.

Because of TESC's fees you should knock out a lot of the credits ahead of time so that you pay for as few renewal fees as possible.

Definitely, get most of the credits done before matriculation.

Do not enroll or start at TESC just yet

Research the FEMA courses on these forums and do a bunch of them. They are easy open book, no time limit exams. These will fill in free electives. Don't worry about how many you do as they are free. Its motivating to start to see credit building.

Next, start studying and taking as many CLEP and DSST exams as you can. Do the EASY ones first like Analyzing & Interpreting Lit, Personal Finance and Introduction to Business. Passing will help motivate you. Join InstantCert.com as its a very good study resource. I was doing 2 exams per week. I used InstantCert and study guides in these forums for the 15 exams I took

After you have taken several CLEP/DSST or have burned out on them, sign up for Aleks.com. Get any and all of your math and statistics out of the way. Its only $20 per month. I did statistics over a 3 day weekend (many hours).

Then sign up for Straighterline.com and take any courses you think you will need. I did the $99 per month and $39 per course plan. Pay as you go. Business Communication was easy. You can take your Microeconimics and Macroeconimcs there. I did Calculus II there which was very hard for me.

After you have done all of the above, apply to TESC (do not enroll). Then send all your transcripts to TESC. Then relax for 6-8 weeks while they process your transcripts.

When you get your evaluation you can see what you have left. Try to fill in gaps by doing more credits at the above places. Only when you can't test (or use alternative methods) out of courses do you want to enroll at TESC.

Man, this cannot get old. How can you lack motivation with the support you guys give. Thank you very much Jam, you response was spot on. I really feel like I have a great plan in place thanks to you guys and am thrilled by the possibilities that await. I joined IC yesterday, started PDS last night, and am prepping for my first CLEP two weeks from today. Please keep the great advice coming, I am a sponge. WATCH OUT WORLD!!!

So I did it guys. I cannot thank you all from this post who gave me that push I needed. I did exactly what y'all suggested, followed the timeline, and succeeded. I am so excited to have one behind me. I am planning to take another before the 4th of July. I was thinking of taking History II since I had already taken it at my CC last Fall. If anyone has a different opinion, please share. Thank you all again!

My post in exam specific is below.

Like they say, "A win's a win". I made it, scraping by with a 51. This was my very first CLEP after studying for close to 2 weeks, about an hour or two every other day.

I chose this test after the helpful advice of the forum. As my first test, I understand why its the best to get out of the way. Simple study, CLEP experience, and 6 credits. I left out the easy part, because I personally had a rough time, hints the 51. I tend to over analyze things in general and for some crazy reason can justify why 3 of the 4 choices make sense. I have never been a big reader and again tend to over analyze the question, confuse myself, and waste time. All of the advice here was great and agree with the approach 100%. A major tip that is constantly repeated here, PRACTICE YOUR TIME MNGMT!!!! I felt ok once I got into a grove, but began to panic when I realized that I had 40 questions left and only 40 minutes. I ended up having to BS my way through the last two sections, about 10 or 15 questions. The poems were much longer than any on the practice tests, some up to 60 lines. Non the less, I prevailed and am very excited to have one under my belt and momentum moving in my direction. I can't thank the members here enough for their help.

You? Over analyze? Nah!!!
Smile

Congrats of the pass, well done. Lather, rinse, repeat.

If you already have a CC course under your belt I wouldn't duplicate that course...they won't count the same thing twice.

If you don't want to take the CLEP English with essay, I do recommend English II from Straighterline. For me it was a good review of writing and I have had a lot of essays this past semester and the Straighterline English II refreshed my memory and helped me with all these papers I have had to write recently. It's not a bad deal $100.00 for a one month subscription and first course free ($39.00). If you finish the course in one month it is a total cost of $100.00 and Straighterline sends the transcript directly to Thomas Edison upon your request as Thomas Edison is one of their partner schools. Just my two cents worth. If your a good writer then the CLEP test is the way to go.

I know what you mean about 'over analyzing', I just keep in mind that CLEP wants the best answer.
