Quote:In a press release, the university said that it will use some of the nearly $12 million it received from the Charles Koch Foundation to develop “a verifiable learner-owned record system that has the potential to replace current transcripts with a less expensive, competency-based credential that lives with the learner themself, rather than with various institutions.”

This seems like they're trying to make things more complicated than they have to be. How about if they just put everyone's transcripts somewhere where you can "order" one to be sent for free like Credly does? Just seems like they're trying to reinvent the wheel here.

There's already the National Student Clearinghouse. Why can't that be used as a central transcript reserve?

You still have to log in to each school and requests transcripts separately.  You can’t select multiple at a time or one transcript that has everything.  Also, not all schools are on there either.

That's what I'm saying. They should set it up so that all of your transcripts fall under your SSN. So you have 1 transcript that shows everything. We students can't even see what the National Student Clearinghouse has info wise on us. The transcripts we get through them aren't all that there is. Most of my transcripts are through Parchment.

But reading the article, that’s not even what they are talking about.  They are talking more specifically.  Rather than listing courses and grades, it’s more like, we covered this topic and that topic in this course.

I didn't say this was in the article. Transcripts have been an issue for ages. Along with transferring credit. It's a total pita. Getting a group of colleges to agree to do anything is also a total pita.
