Have hopefully a simple question. My son joined the air force. He has 55 credits from a local community college, he also has a private pilots license. TESU will give him about 9 credits for the pilots license. If he can show the Air Force he has over 60 credits he can go in as an E-3 rank. The question is if he transfers everything to TESU can he get a transcript for the Air Force right away prior to taking any TESU classes? This is not credit laundering, he intends to get a BA with TESU.

I don't know if they will issue a transcript without enrolling in something, but the old trick in 2023 was to sign up for the Medical Terminology TECEP so they would evaluate credits and issue a transcript. He wouldn't even need to take the TECEP, just sign up and pay (it's not expensive). Take it from an AF vet, it would be worth it to come in as an A1C rather than as an Airman Basic.

Welcome to the board, great intro post with some basic details, you should fill us in with more details by completing the addendum and template here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works
With that many credits already, you may want to see if they can complete an Associates, almost for free, and if you play your cards correctly, 100% transfer credit. Fill in the info I am looking for and we can see what situation you're in.

Thank you both for the reply. I should have specified the credits are quarter credits. He won’t have enough for an AA. The first goal is enough to amend his contract and go in as an E-3. I may work on the linked form and repost the big plan for review/advice.

Your son will have a large number of credits to transfer upon completing Tech School. He will also be able to take CLEP and DANTES exams at no cost. This will also help him complete the requirements for his AFSC's respective CCAF AAS degree, which is a great EPR/package bullet and helpful for early promotion to E-4 (Senior Airman Below the Zone).
Here is what TESU converted from my Air University credits (some are from 5 and 7 level completion and a couple of extra trainings), but you can see the number of semester hours is high for some of these courses (any 0.00R are from the same credit being applied elsewhere on the transcript by a different means, and probably represents 3 SH).

Removing the post-Tech School training, that's still over 120 SHs (granted, I had a long Tech School), all of which I obtained within my first two years in the Air Force. While this was a long time ago, I can't imagine too much has changed, and your son should be able to take care of the vast majority of credits needed to complete his Associate's and Bachelor's degrees at TESU with only taking a few courses there (and military tuition last I checked was only $250 per credit so TA should cover).
