I would love to hear opinions for TESU and what I'd need to complete there. Also Excelsior if anyone is in the know, especially since I do get a discount from my employer from that particular school.

Athabasca being a Canadian school won't be a problem at all for a U.S. master's program. The risk is that it's a 90-credit degree. One can't throw 30 extra, random credits on a transcript and say that it's the equivalent of a 4-year degree. I can't throw business credits on top of my BA in Social Science and say that I have a business degree. It has to be a planned program of study to be official. Your transcript won't show that you used 120 credits to complete the degree because the degree only has room for 90 credits. It'll show that you completed a 3-year degree and have 30 excess credits. It's going to be up to individual graduate programs and employers whether or not they'll consider a 3-year degree from Canada plus 30 extra credits to be the equivalent of a 4-year degree from the U.S.

Sanantone, you start out saying it won't be a problem then go on to explain it will be up to the school..... I agree it might not be a problem and it will be up to the school. This guy only needs a half dozen classes.....makes no sense to take a flyer on Athabasca.
If Athabasca was such a great deal with their 90 credit US equivalent degrees we would have either the "big 4"..... Or we'd have Athabasca.

The problem is that the degree program suggested is 90 credits. I thought that was clear.

Excelsior has a bachelors in business and management which might only require a 1 unit info literacy and a 3 unit capstone (and then there is an additional fee, I think it used to be about $1100 because they charge you this fee if you don't take many units with them). You might be able to finish with them sooner:
https://my.excelsior.edu/c/document_libr...upId=78666 Maybe the degree experts could look at what you have taken vs what is required. Usually they recommend Thomas Edison or Charter Oak for cost reasons, but I don't know if you are more worried about speed than cost since you are so close? I am more of a lurker, but I became interested in replying because YOU ARE SO VERY CLOSE TO A DEGREE and I want to encourage you to complete one ASAP.

But none the less it is a great option for many who have completed traditional credits. It's a great alternative to use 90 traditional credits and complete a bachelors. Their program has a uniqueness on its own.

Do any of these courses or any other course you previously listed have a grade of D-/D/D+/C-? A C- or lower grade can be useful, but not inside the area of study.

Athabasca University is a government run university like the Big 3. The Alberta government appoints the board and funds it. I haven't read the info for years but I believe the only degree without residence requirements is the 90 credit Bachelor of General Studies.

I did receive a D in two of these classes which I know will most likely translate into me having to take them again which I am fine with.

I am very close and I cannot wait to be able to close this long chapter in my life and be able to provide myself with more opportunities. |
