I must admit it, I purchased TCN (College Network) modules several years ago. My exam fees were also financed so I have to send them my score to get the next exam fee. I'm not really using the modules, but I figured I might as well us the $3400 I have coming to me in exam fees. Anyway when I called to get my first check they told me about testing at home option they now have. Instead of the CLEP it is an ACE credit which they said is accepted the same as the CLEP. I guess it is similar to the Uexcel exam. Does anyone know if this is true that it is the same type of credit (Uexcel)? I'm not finding much about other ACE credited exams and how well they are accepted. Also they are sending me a web cam and I will be monitored by a proctor for the exam. Since this is my first exam what do you think about doing these at home as opposed to going to a test center(better or worse)? I think it would take the anxiety out but sometimes pressure makes you perform better......maybe!
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Never heard of this before. So basically it's a very high-priced version of CLEP?
It looks like they have ACE-reviewed courses, you can see them in the ACE database.
But this is something you need to discuss with your college advisor. It's going to depend on the college. It is 100% up to each college to accept any credit from any source, regardless if it is ACE, CLEP, or even from Harvard itself.
The Big 3 are generally the most flexible on accepting credits and cheapest route overall. But it is still up to the school whether or not they will take a particular TCN course, or any course, for credit, even a Big 3 school.

Basically it IS a very high version of the clep...lol. I am in nursing so I have 9 ECE's that are $275 per exam. EC has very expensive exams. I plan on completeing through EC. I don't have a college advisor since I am not enrolling until I get my 15 exams done. I think I will call though and double check, EC may give me that much info. I just don't want TCN to take me for more.. if ya know what I mean... so I am cautious on what they tell me. Thanks for the site, that is what I was looking for... something legit! Couldn't find it on my own Trying to make the most out of my BIG mistake!

No worries, completely understand. FYI Excelsior just shortened some of their tests and lowered the prices to $95, not sure if that will help you any or not.

Just my luck, I don't need any of them..... geesh! Thanks though, I'm sure it would help someone out there!
Any advise on testing at home as opposed to in a test center? Would you do it at home? Sadly I can do them quicker that way. Turn over time in a center, get results to them then cut the check and send it to me, is 3 weeks per exam!
