COSC Criminal Justice
#1
Star
Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on these forums for sooo long and all the information here has been so helpful. I got my AS in General Studies from COSC two years ago thanks to this forum. I was able to finish my degree with mostly SL courses.  Tongue I'm now trying to complete a BS in Criminal Justice at COSC. I initially wanted to do Legal Studies or Paralegal Studies but none of the big 3 offered them and other schools would be too expensive for me since I'm not eligible for aid or loans. I chose COSC again because I already completed the Cornerstone and since I live in CT, I can get in-state tuition which helps.

I've researched a lot and came up with a plan at just under $4800 which isn't too bad. I already have all Gen Ed requirements met at COSC (from my AS). I need to find two more UL courses (6 cr)!

Here's what I have so far:

I'm not sure if this degree plan will work. Can anyone check and see if I missed anything or let me know if you know of better options? Thanks!  Heart

Just to let you know, since you're already using Sophia.org, StraighterLine, and Study.com, those are the main three providers you need to finish off your degree. Sophia has Project Management and it's UL for COSC, SL has Business Ethics & Organizational Behavior, both UL, Study.com has many to choose from... Since I mentioned SL, they have a 2 for 1 deal until the 18th, get them quick!

Update, and here's the StraighterLine Coupon Thread Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid310856
In Progress: Walden MBA | TESU BA Biology & Computer Science

Thanks @bjcheung77! I completely missed those. I'll add Sophia's Project Management and SL's Organizational Behavior to my plan. They'll fill the 2 ULs I was missing! Yay!

I'm not an expert but one thing I notice with COSC on SDC is they seem to be whittling down what counts as UL credit.

Check here: https://study.com/college/school/charter...llege.html

CR306 Research Methods AND CR381 Victimology BOTH are denoted as lower level on SDC.

Psych 306 Advanced Abnormal Psychology still UL.

Also, I'm not sure if this is actually correct, but SL Business Ethics says it counts as PHL 486 but "denotes lower level credit." I've heard from people on this forum who have gotten it counted as UL though so ???

Yea I noticed that too... I'm still hoping that those 300-level courses from SDC go in as UL otherwise I'll need to find more UL credits somewhere else  Cry

As for SL Business Ethics, it counted as UL on my COSC degree audit (PHL 485).

Sophia.org is FREE until July 31st. Might want to do those courses first and complete them for free.

Yea... I already finished Statistics, Psychology, and Ethics (which was pretty hard and extremely boring... but I managed to pass) and I'm working on Project Management.  Shy

FHSU has a Criminal Justice bachelor's degree and certificates. Take courses there and transfer them to COSC.

If you have a SDC membership, I can recommend going through the relevant course videos there to help you with Sophia courses. I came close to not passing the second unit of Project Management. After finishing my two SDC courses, I watched some of their project management videos. While I am in no way qualified to be a project manager now, I at least managed to pass the course with more than the required 70%.
