I'm looking at finishing a BA degree in criminal justice. I have 60 Cr from a community college and took all the 100 and 200 CJ courses they required for a AAS. I completed my Composition, English, and an earth science class. I also took a 100 level psych and sociology class. I started looking into TESU and EC. I have a ton of training and certifications from my department that I hope will get me college credit. Like many others, money is tight and I would like to get my Bachelor's Degree ASAP for promotional opportunities.
Questions:
Is TESU and EC my best option?
Does anyone know if academy/training/professional experience/certification will translate to a significant amount of credits?
Does Sophia and/or study.com have any value for my plan?
Thanks in advance,
R

Have you looked at UMPI? Having 60 credits from community college may or may not be something to focus on. All of the credits may not transfer. You will still need to meet the general education requirements and major requirements in the bachelor's degree programs. Study.com has several CJ courses which transfer. As far as your certifications it depends if they will be given college credit. Some may at some schools. Without knowing what they are there's no way to say what kind of value they have. Sophia and Study are usually used to finish off the gen eds. Depending on the program you may be able to use the CJ courses from Study but that also depends on what you've already completed.

Ok, TY. How outgoing are these institutions in regards to assessing your credits/training/certs etc?

You actually need to list your courses in order for us to tell you what school is the best option:
School (RA or NA, Semester- or quarter-system, course-numbering system at your school)
Course #, full course name, # of credits earned, grade if less than a C
list any other pertinent info like if a science course has a lab, if the course is considered developmental
Then, TESU and EC are not good options for this degree, because there are not a lot of UL CJ credits floating around for cheap. Your best option for the lowest price is UMPI.

UMPI has a BAS program too. Might be the fastest for you. That way you can transfer all the credits from the community college. You can do a minor in CJ. If you Combine the AAS with Sophia, Instantcert and Study.com you should get your degree very fast.

List out your courses with the course name, number, grade, number of credits, and where taken. You list the same info for the certs. Some schools are in UMPI's transfer database and others we guess until you've applied and have your transcripts processed.

I will say the ExcelTracks at PUG are VERY intensive! A 5 credit course is 5 1 credit courses with a long paper or project for each credit. They are very time consuming. It is hard to move quickly through PUG. They're also pretty expensive compared to other CBE programs. PUG is also on the quarter credit system so they require more credits which is more assignments.

I was set on a CJ degree too but TESU was too confusing for me so I started looking elsewhere. UMPI has a very easy to understand layout so I was able to do my own degree audit and see how my credits from my local CC transferred over on their site. The UMPI CJ degree requires an extensive capstone project so I decided I would get my Bachelor of Applied Science and instead of getting one of the listed minors on the website I reached out to ask if I fulfilled any other minors offered to the on campus students. Turns out my CJ courses from my community college did not meet the CJ minor requirements but they did meet the Pre-Law requirements. I’ll be graduating this session with my BAS Pre-Law minor for 2 months of work and only $1400. In my unprofessional opinion it actually looks better on paper than the original BACJ degree I was looking at.
