What is your opinion on the easiest upper level tests? Do you have any advice for obtaining upper level credits?
Thanks,

Thanks,

I can only give my opinion from my experience, and that's pretty limited when it comes to upper level. Nonetheless, here it is:

No CLEPs are counted as UL... at least at TESC, which is a real bummer 'cause I prefer that format over DSSTs.

DSST:

- World Religion (400-level at TESC). I thought it was easy, but I've had quite a bit of background in the Judeo-Christian parts, and had studied Islam and Hinduism before.

- Civil War and Reconstruction (200-level at TESC). It's counted as UL at some places, but unfortunately not at TESC. I studied pretty hard for that one, but only for a week or so. Again, I've had a lot of exposure to this era, so I didn't think it was too tough. The material was interesting to me as well, which made studying for it a good bit easier.

- History of Vietnam War (300-level at TESC). Not bad, but the names were tough to get down.

- Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union (300-level at TESC). I studied hard for that one and didn't think it was too bad, but it was definitely the hardest of these.

I don't know if Western Europe is considered UL anywhere or not, but I'd take the Civil War test before that one. I could hardly stay awake while studying European politics! :ack:

I've taken all of the DSST History exams that Thomas Edison considers upper level plus Intro to World religions and in my opinion,
World Religions is the easiest. It's very straight forward and pretty much follows exactly what you can find in any
"World Religions for Dummies" type of book. The DK Children's book about religion+growing up in a Christian home was enough for me
to pass the test with about 3 or so hours of studying.

If you were wondering about the histories, I'd rank them like this: Middle East, Civil War, Vietnam War, and Soviet Union.
They're difficult, but it's basically just memorizing a bunch of facts.
I passed them (not great scores) with around 3-4 hours of studying, but I'm sure anyone who actually studies well could get an amazing score.

Good luck on whichever test you choose Smile !

Management Info Systems if you're halfway decent with networking concepts. Believe me I could not install a network if my life depended on it. I truly think I would not even have a wireless network in my home if I weren't married to someone willing to set it up, but I had no problems with this and actually enjoyed the test. Yes you do need to put in the study time, but it was much easier than expected.

I also thought Substance Abuse was easy but that's only because of my years in medical software sales and volunteer pharmacy tech. Or if you just like the show Intervention, you'll probably find this topic interesting. (If you haven't checked it out, watch it on A&E to see if you would like SA test)

Also, not quite as hard as I thought: Bus Law II. Difficult, but I think I prepared enough and it wasn't horrible.

Worse than expected: Money & Banking OMG!!!!!!!

Just a bad bad bad test: Principles of Finance. I am so glad that one is over. I hate finance and this is the only test that actually made me cry tears of frustration while I was studying. To add insult to injury COSC doesn't follow the ACE recommendation on this one - they give you LL credit for it Sad

Edit to add: Is Business Ethics also considered UL? I think so... and it was also pretty simple.
