China Cuts 12,200 University Programs, Replaces Many With AI Degrees

Quote:The reductions have fallen disproportionately on programs in the humanities, arts, foreign languages and some management disciplines.
I'm not really in favor of these cuts, but it's worth discussing what they're doing over there in China.
Is an AI degree pointless?

"At the same time, institutions have been encouraged to expand offerings in artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductor engineering, AI-driven advanced manufacturing and other fields aligned with China's industrial priorities."

Every woman, man, and his dog are doing an AI degree these days it seems. Has been so for the last couple of years, it's the new "cyber security degree" or "data science degree".
In couple more years the job market is going to be totally
flooded with "AI experts" hunting for jobs that don't exist for them.
