Hi,
I am new to this site, new to testing and need some advice on which test to study for. Humanities or Ethics in Amercia will work for my Humanities at Liberty University. For someone with little knowledge of either and returning to school after several years, which would be the best to try.
Thanks

Hi and welcome! I want to say first of all that I have not taken ethics in America, so I can't say which one is easier, but Humanities may be a good choice depending on your likes.
If you do a search, you'll find several Humanities threads which can provide more detail, but here's some comments that might help.
Are you an arts/theater/literature person? I am not, so I studied for a couple of weeks to take Humanities. I felt that what I learned was beneficial just for common knowledge. The test is broad, not deep, so reviewing different art styles and knowing lit basics I feel was really good to know. You never know when someone will be talking about art or theater and it's nice to be able to sound intelligent. ;-) It's a six credit test and I thought that it was difficult, but not horrible.
Also, not sure if you've taken Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, or if you'd even need that, but my studying for Humanities prepared me adequately for both tests - although A & I Lit is much much easier. You could knock out both pretty quickly and there's 12 credits for you!

I have not taken either test but I plan on taking Humanities next month so I have been doing some research on it. A couple things to keep in mind ---- Humanities is worth 6 credits and Ethics is worth 3 credits--so for Humanities you get more credits done in one test--Yay. Humanities is rated a Lower Level credit course and Ethics is Upper Level. Do you need these credits for a Gen Ed type requirement or Upper Level course?? If you need UL course then you are out of luck with Humanities.
If you are a subscriber to IC you can access 'Specific Exam Feedback' which will give you recommendations from many members that took the test-- what to study and what to expect etc. That way you can compare tests and decide which one to take. If you are not a member I would do a search on the forum part that is free because there are many threads about these exams.
Also, here is a good
website that gives a great overview of all the tests, where to get the Peterson Practice tests for free etc. The Peterson tests are a great resource as a study tool and a good indicator if you are ready to take the real test. I highly recommend these free practice tests. Hope this helps !

I'm actually a bit confused.
I'm taking the Humanities CLEP exam at the University of Maryland, College Park. Apparently, the Humanities exam is only worth 3 credits according to this website:
Transfer Credit Center | College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Should I avoid taking the Humanities clep at this center? I was under the impression that all clep exams should give equal amount of credits for certain tests. Is this information incorrect?

Liberty only list the Humanities as a 3 credit also.
After doing more reading I have found out that any of the following will work for my humanities.
American Lit
English Lit
Art Appreciation
Humanities
Ethics in Amercia
I only need 3 Humanities credits and have no interest in any of these subjects. Any input appreciated.
Thanks for the welcome and help!

Ethics may have the smallest scope and even if you're not interested, it is a worthwhile thing to know a little about. Art would be pretty easy, but IMHO might be more of a pain to stay focused if it doesn't interest you.

How much credit you get depends on the college where you will be receiving credit, not where you take the test. So I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm sorry for any confusion. I am enrolling at TESC and the Humanities exam is worth 6 credits at this school. Yes, please check with the school that you are enrolled at to confirm how many credits they award for any Cleps or Dsst's.
