I am scheduled to take Clep Math (general) on Thursday at 3pm. Assuming that Math is not my strength and my main goal is just to pass, how good are my odds when I score 55 on Petersons? I'm sure that can be written in some kind of equasion, but none come to mind, the brain is fried. Any feedback?

I am also not a math guy. I scored a 57 and didn't have IC or Petersons practice test. I only understood the CLEP study guide practice test questions. For me time was more of an issue so don't spend too much time on the ones you don't know. I also have noticed I do better on the actual tests then on the Peterson ones. So looks like you will pass with that score you got from petersons. Of course, I can only vouch for the subjects I took at peterson for my pass rate.

So now I am worried. Of all three practice Petersons, I scored a 55, a 43 and a 61. What should I do, I have the test scheduled for 3pm Thursday. Should I wait or shall I take the plunge? This test is making me more nervous than others, because math is not my thing. I don't care if all I get is a 50, as long as I pass. Any advise? Thanks, guys.

Johanna,
I was scoring about the same on the practice tests but went ahead and took it. I found out that the real test was nothing like the practice one. There were some algebra type problems but the majority were word/stat problems. I was amazed the test was so much easier than IC or Peterson's. This was one of the few study guides that IC puts out that went way too in-depth. Of the Trig/Algebra problems that I had no clue on, I guessed and moved on to problems I could solve. I ended up with a 57 on the test, keep in mind it had been 22 years since I had even seen math like this and I crammed for two weeks.
Of course now comes the disclaimer that my test could be very different from the one you will see, so be prepared. Please let us know your decision and what you thought about it if you do decide to take it. GOOD LUCK!! Lee

I too was scoring around 50 on the Peterson test. I took the test on Friday the 6th an scored a 51, barely making it. My exam consisted of alot of Statistic and word problem (permutations/combinations) alot of functions/graph problems. I hadn't taken math in over 20 years. This was the first test that had me very nervous. Just know what primes, rational, irrational and intergers. This was my last hurdle to receive my degree. You will do just find, just calm yourself, take deep breaths and don't be afraid to agressively guess on the questions you don't know.

I passed with a 57, but want to share something that surprised me about this test. I was expecting all multiple-choice questions, but I had probably 15-20 questions where I had to type in an answer or shade areas of a venn diagram or things like this. Did anyone else experience this? I missed the security of the answer options. Not being a hero in math, I will admit to finding answers sometimes by simply plugging in each of the answer options to see which one fits best. This test scared me because of that - but what the heck, a pass is a pass - and 6 credits

Congratulations Johanna! 6 more credits is wonderful and now are you done with math?
I was surprised by the fill in the blank questions, although I do recall reading something beforehand about the venn diagrams. I wonder, is this the only CLEP that has fill in the blank?
