I have been researching on line "state approved Educator Preparation Programs" extensively and have lots of info if anyone wants to talk about it off line or on another thread. I feel like I must have reviewed every program by now at least twice! Almost all states have a fast track program of some kind if you simply have a BA. You usually get a 1 or 2 year Provissional License which is not renewable. They give you a few years to get the Education courses completed and then you roll into a regular teacher license/certification. That is one way to go for someone who wants to just jump into teaching. As for going through a year long program etc, there are lots of options and most are on line. I have found that each state has a list of the courses that they want to see completed and not all programs have those courses. There are also several programs that are on line that allow you to get your BA and your Teacher Prep Program all rolled into one. That is great for someone who is just starting out with their college classes but not for someone who is all but done.

Great stuff. When we work on ourselves, doors of opportunity open that we never would have considered.
