Hi All,
I have been searching high and low for a CLEP center that offers Saturday testing hours. Northern Essex CC only offers them every other month or so on a Saturday. The next Saturday date isn't until mid June and I have a prior commitment that day anyways so I cannot make it anyways. I've called UMass Boston but they do not answer their testing center phone nor return my voicemails. Grr. I do not know where else so call. Most testing centers are at community colleges and they are only open Monday through Friday during the day.
I work 9-5 Monday through Friday and with 4 CLEPs left to take I cannot afford to miss work each time I need to take a test. I want to finish by the end of June but it seems like that will be impossible without missing many days of work.
It just seems so cruel that a test geared towards working older adults who generally are not full time day students is only offered during work hours. It seems like I will never finish If I have to risk getting fired for missing too many days from work.

That does suck that they can't do saturday or evening testing. But I do think the ones that you have left to do could be done in one day. You could split them up, taking a half day off for each pair. I'm not sure the end of June is a realistic goal in any case...well, it wouldn't be for me. If you're able to study fast and if you pick up on the economics quickly enough, it should be doable.

I feel your pain. The CC 30 mins away here is my only option too and the times are all awkward for me. What's extra annoying is I live on a military base that does testing and can't take on there because I'm a spouse and not active duty. GRRR why can't I pay and take one there?? It's so unfair. It'd be like three minutes from my house. :ack:

Thank you for the advice everyone especially GoodtoGo. Maybe I'll schedule a vacation on the Cape in June and knock a couple out then. Their testing fee is only $15 per test too. Bunker Hill CC quoted me a testing fee of $40.00 per test!!! Craziness!

Do you have commercial colleges such as Devry or Strayer close? Those in my neck of the woods have one late evening or a Saturday morning test session each week. They're much more user friendly for tests than the non-profit colleges.
On another note, it really distresses me that the education center at the military post doesn't allow family members to use their testing facilities. As a veteran, and the sister of a military wife, I know that helping military families helps the troops. My goal this week is to send a letter to the President, my representative, and my senators to see what the can do about this.

I've taken all three of my exams there and everything was smooth. I did ask about the DSST Public Speaking exam and was told they've never given one. I think they're pretty good but would rather take that exam at a center who has given them before. I've been trying to contact Community College of Rhode Island but I always get a answering machine.
Has anyone taking Public Speaking at a center in Massachusetts or Rhode Island?

I have tested at Bridgewater, NECC and Cape Cod CC; I also have to test on Saturdays so I make the rounds of MA schools. I'm checking out Eastern Nazarene in Quincy for my next tests; i called U of Phoenix in Braintree but got a personal cell phone (or so it seemed) of a very unhappy employee who informed me that she was on vacation and could not help me! good luck!
