Degree planning help
#1
Hey guys, recently found out about the forum and was wondering what you would do in my situation. I took a bunch of clep and dsst tests in 2018 and wanted to get a degree as fast as possible. Just finding out about Sophia and WGU so would be curious on any recommendations for those programs as well.

Your Location: Chicagoland
Your Age: 30
What kind of degree do you want?: Fastest path to a BA (history/humanities?) also potentially interested in finance or some kind of teaching certification
Current Regional Accredited Credits: Not sure, may have 9-12 from local community college
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: Clep scores:
Psychology: 51
Social Sciences and history: 71
Microeconomics: 64
Macroeconomics: 64
Western Civ II: 55
Western Civ I: 52
US history II: 61
US history I: 63
Natural Sciences: 55
Marketing: 62
Management: 60
Humanities: 54
Spanish Language 1&2: 73
American Govt: 51

DSSTs (clerical error not allowing me to see score, just know they are above ACE recommended score):
Finance
Statistics
Vietnam War
Organizational Behavior
Health& Human Development
Money& Banking
History of Soviet Union
World Religions

Also have 4s on Calc AB and Environmental Science from high school
Any certifications or military experience? None
Budget: As low as possible, would be willing to sacrifice a bit for speed/ a more marketable degree
Commitments: Just 9-5
Dedicated time to study: ~4 hours/day
Timeline: Asap
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None that I'm aware of

WGU doesn't offer a degree in history or humanities. They have both exams and written assignments not just exams. Anyone looking at WGU should definitely look into the issues students are navigating with the recent change in proctoring.

Maybe go for a quick degree at UMPI, such as their BLS with a minor in Educational Studies and if you want, you can add another minor or two... I would recommend looking at your state requirements for teaching, if there are specifics that is required beyond the Bachelors. Report back with what is required and we can see what options you have going forward...
