EVERY single legit source states he was in a conservative home, but he had been more radicalized to the far left the last few years, consistently spouting how much he hated Charlie Kirk and TPUSA. Suspect's high school classmate says Robinson was the only 'leftist' in a family of 'very hard' Republicans

In a phone interview on Friday, someone who said they were friends with Robinson in high school, who wanted to remain anonymous, said that the suspect was “pretty left on everything” and was “the only member of his family that was really leftist”.

“The rest of his family was very hard Republican,” the friend said.

Around sophomore year, the friend said, Robinson became more extreme in his political views and would “always just be ranting and arguing about them”.

The friend said that they played video games together a lot in high school and noted that the bullet engraving with the arrows was a reference to Helldivers 2 – which we mentioned earlier. He said that the arrows specifically were in reference to “calling in a big bomb that exists” in the game “called the 500 kilogram”.

When the friend saw the news on Friday, he said that he was shocked. “I knew he [Robinson] had strong political views, but I never thought it would even go near that far.”

The friend said that he has not spoken to Robinson in years and began to drift apart toward the end of high school. Another high school classmate separately told the Guardian that the friend and Robinson were close in school and would play video games.

The suspect accusing Kirk of being “full of hate” is a little inconsistent with the suspect being a Groyper, though it could easily be reconciled by the suspect being a confused figure on the periphery of the movement, or ironic, or reaching for an insincere excuse for his attack that he supposed might be plausible to “normies.”

From all the evidence we have, he was a terminally online redditor type (per high school people who knew him) who divested from his milquetoast conservative family, converted to the left and hated Charlie Kirk. We have his friends and FAMILY saying this. 

You have no evidence to support his and it directly contradicts the evidence we have so far. You're trying to play it up as some "meme" is disingenuous. I spent years on 4chan, I am well aware about how these ironic sh*tposting memes go. By the same token, if he is using meme language on bullets, that is not enough to claim he was a far right groyper who wanted to kill another right leaning figure....makes ZERO sense. All the while talking with family and saying Charlie is full of hate when NICK FUENTES is WAY more far right than Charlie. You say he converted to the left and you quote a high-school friend in the Guardian report describing the suspect as left-wing and angry circa his high-school sophomore year, so circa 2018.

That friend then drifted apart from the suspect. In the CNN report you linked, a separate high-school classmate said the suspect supported Trump ahead of the 2020 election. “When I knew him and his family, they were like diehard Trump,” the classmate said. So much for that circa 2018 conversion.

Very recently he opposed Kirk and called Kirk a fascist. Those positions are seen both on the left and on the far right. A politically violent young man who in 2020 supported Trump is generally more likely to be on the far right now than on the left. It isn’t uncommon on the far right to vacillate between support and opposition for Trump.

But this guy is a mess, it’s early, and most of the evidence so far is either second-hand and vague or first-hand but obscure and ironic. He’s neither proven left-wing nor right-wing so far.

State records show that Robinson registered to vote as unaffiliated. His registration status is listed as inactive, which means he did not vote in 2024 or 2022.
