More Competency-Based Programs to Come
#1
I think this was mentioned on this forum or the other forum before. Or, maybe I just saw it mentioned in an article awhile back. Southern New Hampshire University has received financial aid approval for its competency-based Associate of Arts in General Studies. More degree programs will follow. This is supposed to be the first program completely removed from the credit hour system. WGU has competency units that are essentially the same as credit hours. SNHU's College for America will charge $2,500 per year! If you finish in 6 months, it's only $1250. One of these articles below says that 20 schools are working on competency-based programs including Capella, Brandman, and Bellevue.

I'm not going to harp on it again, but I had a lot of trouble with SNHU and policies that they had that were not written anywhere or available to students, but enforced by the school. I would just caution everyone to be extra careful when dealing with them.
