I did both through Study.com. When I finished Comp 1, nearly half of Comp 2 was already completed because of how Study.com allows complete competencies to rollover into other courses. I completed both in about a week. I did 2 essays for Comp 1 and 3 essays for Comp 3. There are 81 quizzes for Comp 1. Comp 2 has only 52, nearly half being completed by doing Comp 1. It was pretty easy for me.

Straighterline English Comp 1 & 2 combined have 17 papers to write in total and you have to read Frankenstein. Also, there are little quizzes with each topic. It took me about a week and a half for each course.

I wish I knew this before I started English Comp 1 for SL. English was never my strongest subject and I don't enjoy writing. When I researched Study.com's version I heard that the majority of the score is put into the final which concerned me. Now I'm wondering if I should ask for a refund or switch to a different SL course instead of English and complete English on Study.com

I went back and looked:

There are only 5-6 big writing assignments in English 1. One persuasive, one argumentative, one compare / contrast, one personal narrative, and then all along, you build a research paper. IF you don't know how to do those, a)you really need to, all I've done in college so far is read and write papers, b)that's a low-impact way to practice those skills.

I guess it depends on what you are good at and who you already have an account with.
I don't like the study.com legacy model, which is study study study, take that final, final is everything.
SL/Ed4Credit are like sisters, with SL being cuter. They allow you a lot of leeway, and you can get the majority of your grade via the work, to the point the final can't wreck you if you bomb it (like 70 or more, of course).
I wasn't aware that study I rolls into II, I'm not sure how that works, completely out of my lane there, but it explains the comment in Vin's parallel thread.
As I told him, people here say that the easiest route is the DSST. Study hard, it isn't exceptionally hard to take, then you have 6 credits.
For the record, I did SL Enc I, then thought I was getting a deal at Ed4Credit for ENC II. I was one of the very first people (based on the records I could see in moodle) in that course and one of their literature courses.
I found them both 'hard', but only because it turns out - I'm not an academic. If you 'understand' academic writing, or are fresh from school where you've been conversant in it, neither should be a strain. I didn't find the amount of homework overwhelming in either I or II, but we didn't have to read a book in E4C II, we built a research paper.
Nothing I've taken has been a slam dunk, however. I feel I got the education I paid for, and I liked it better than having to slog through a brick and mortar class.
Right now, I am in a online mentor-led class, and it is DRAGGGGGGING. I could knock this out in a few weeks. It's gonna take 2-3 months.

I tried to look into the DSST for English Comp I and I only found Principles of Advanced English Composition I believe that is English Comp II.

The difference between SL and Ed4Credit that I've noticed is that SL allows you to get so many points on your quizzes/exams that you can flunk the final and still pass the course. Ed4Credit makes you average 70% on the course overall, and you have to get at least a 50% on the final to pass.
Also, some SL courses allow open book/open notes, while Ed4Credit allows Open Notes for all of their courses. They can be typed or handwritten, with no limit on the number of pages.

So is Straighterline the same as Study in how it grades? As in you take a lot of quizzes that count toward your total grade with the final exam? Or is it just one test at the end of a course? So if I know the topic I could go right through it asap and not read much at all- just take quizzes and final and be done? *edit: also, can you retake the quizzes like on Study until you get a 100%?
