Ethics
#1
Hello - newbie here ... working on putting together a game plan for a BSLA through Excelsior. For the Ethics requirement, I'm looking at either SDC's 'Ethics - Theory & Practice' or their 'Ethics in America' - or the DSST 'Ethics in America'. Any thoughts on how they would compare or contrast, or which one would be easiest/quickest to study for/complete?
Thanks!

I'd shoot for their BUS 318: Management Ethics or BUS 310: Advanced Business Ethics courses if you need UL credit too.

If you don't need UL, then SOCSCI 108: Ethics in the Social Sciences is the shortest of their 4 LL Ethics courses.

Thanks so much! I hadn't thought of comparing similar courses by their numbers of Chapters/Lessons ... that was a huge help, but also kinda a 'duh' moment. (lol) The UL advice was good, but after looking them over, I think I'd rather do UL credit in other topics, ie. not business! Considering size and subject matter, I like the looks of "Philosophy 103: Ethics - Theory & Practice" best. Subject matter looks a bit more interesting to me, so it shouldn't take very much longer to do than the "Ethics in the Social Sciences".

Thanks again!

Since you need 30cr of UL, and they don't all need to be in your major, sometimes it's good to kill 1 stone by getting an UL course in a requirement area.

But do it however you'd like.

My son has a BA in Philosophy (And another in Communications) and I asked him what he thought about this situation and his advice was to take the Upper Level class because it gets one of your UL requirements out of the way and Ethics is one of those subjects that requires deep thinking, so the lower level class won't necessarily be a cake walk.  Some of his hardest classes were at the 100 level.  Don't be afraid to take UL classes because of their level.  His favorite class ever was Environmental Ethics and it was a 300 level class and he took it his Freshman year.

Thanks for the feedback - it's much appreciated! The UL classes/courses don't really intimidate me just because they're listed as UL ... it really comes down more to subject matter. I did go back and check the UL Bus. Ethics course again due to the advice, but it really does seem to revolve around the business aspect of it (as it should). That's what turns me off about it, though - there's other UL courses I'd rather do that fit me better.
